ON WEDNESDAY 24 March, representatives from Apprentices for Fire and Security – the initiative that aims to place apprentices into careers within the fire and security sectors – will be presenting to thousands of young people from across the UK as part of the WorldSkills UK Spotlight Talks event.
The Spotlight Talks are focused on inspiring careers excellence and will bring together the UK’s leading employers and apprentices in a determined bid to inspire even more young people from all walks of life to take up technical career routes and apprenticeships.
WorldSkills UK Live is the nation’s premier skills, apprenticeships and careers event. It takes place every November at the NEC in Birmingham. The Electronic Security Systems Competition was launched back in 2019, but unfortunately the live event had to be cancelled in 2020 due to COVID-19.
The competition, which is scheduled to return in 2021, is organised by Skills for Security with CSL, Hikvision and Texecom serving as headline sponsors. The competition is the final part of the security element of the Engineers of Tomorrow competition, the organisers of which recently announced that registration is now open for the 2021 edition.
Apprentices for Fire and Security is helping to match young people with an apprenticeship in an array of fields within the sector. The fire and security sectors offer a diverse range of career paths including electrical engineering, product design, security guarding and more.
Key industry supporters of the Apprentices for Fire and Security initiative also include the National Security Inspectorate, the Security Systems and Alarms Inspection Board, the British Security Industry Association, the Fire Industry Association, BAFE and the Fire and Security Association.
*The online session takes place on Wednesday 24 March between 9.10 am and 9.40 am. Register to attend by visiting the WorldSkills UK website
