THE S12 Security Guarding Leadership Group is now inviting applications from non-Approved Contractor Scheme (ACS) security company representatives to join its core leadership committee.
The S12 Group is looking to appoint two new non-ACS Board member positions as it continues to broaden representation and strengthen its engagement with Government and industry stakeholders. The move reflects the S12 Group’s commitment to ensuring that leadership and decision-making represents the diversity of business models operating across the UK’s security guarding sector.
Working collectively with Government, the Security Minister, and the Security Industry Authority (SIA), the S12 Group was set up to address critical industry challenges, raise professional standards and improve public safety.
As the scope and pace of this engagement continues to increase, the introduction of dedicated non-ACS representation is intended to ensure that policy discussions and reform proposals are informed by the full breadth of operational experience within the sector.
The two new non-ACS Board members will join the S12 Group’s core leadership committee with the same responsibilities and voting rights as existing members. They will play a central role in shaping the S12 Group’s priorities and contribute directly to key workstreams including those focused on mandatory business licensing, Martyn’s Law, labour exploitation, training malpractice and the SIA’s Business Approval Scheme.
Breadth of the sector
Paul Evans, chair of the S12 Security Guarding Leadership Group, said: “The S12 Group was established to represent the whole of the security guarding industry. As our engagement with Government deepens, it’s vital that our leadership structure continues to reflect the breadth of the sector.”
Evans continued: “Introducing two non-ACS Board seats is an important step forward in ensuring that experienced, compliant and professional non-ACS businesses have a direct voice at the table as we work on some of the most significant reforms facing our industry.”
Eligibility criteria
The roles are open to senior leaders from eligible non-ACS companies providing SIA-licensable security guarding services in the UK. Successful applicants will be expected to commit time and expertise to S12 Group activity, including regular meetings, workstream leadership and in-person engagement with representatives from Government and regulatory bodies.
Members are appointed for a two-year term and must meet strict eligibility and compliance criteria, reflecting the standards expected of S12 Group representatives.
The application process includes the submission of a detailed application form, professional references and a supporting evidence pack. Further information about the roles, eligibility requirements and application process is available via the S12 website. The deadline for applications to be submitted is 5.00 pm on 4 February.
The S12 Group committee is presently supported by upwards of 400 individuals who are helping to represent the interests of the industry with one united voice, while working to raise standards, shape policy and improve public safety.
