HKC launches 4G communicator for “robust next generation connectivity”

INTRUDER ALARM solutions developer HKC Security UK has announced the launch of its new 4G Wi-Fi Dual Path Communicator, which provides the company’s alarm panels with an ultra-fast connection to the SecureComm Cloud.

The SecureComm Cloud offers installers an easy way in which to take control of an HKC-centred security system. The 4G Wi-Fi Dual Path Communicator will ensure the alarm panel has an even faster, smoother and more robust connection to the cloud for more effective system monitoring, remote operation and data transfer.

Stay connected

HKC’s previous communicator solution operated on a 2G band, which had a limited data transmission. As the telecoms infrastructure evolved across the UK, and 4G became a more widely adopted network, this prompted HKC to update its communicator range.

By leveraging a 4G connection in the new Dual Path Communicator, installers will be able to access – and remotely operate – their customers’ alarm systems even faster in the event of an emergency or fault.

Should the 4G network experience an outage, the 4G Dual Path Communicator has 2G and Wi-Fi fallback to ensure the connection isn’t lost and that customers don’t feel the effects of the outage episode. Pre-fitted with a 4G modem and a World SIM card, in addition to a Wi-Fi module, remotely monitoring and accessing an HKC alarm panel has never been a quicker process.

Upgraded features

Elsewhere, the 4G Wi-Fi Dual Path Communicator incorporates jam detection in order to protect against thieves who may attempt to disrupt security systems with a signal blocker.

The 4G Wi-Fi World SIM card supports instant Internet Protocol signalling to all major Alarm Receiving Centres, while installers can remotely access the alarm panel through the Smartlink700 PC or smart phone app to programme, maintain or otherwise upgrade the panel’s software.

The 4G Wi-Fi Dual Path Communicator plugs directly onto the HKC Quantum70 and SW10270 panels so there’s no requirement to replace any existing systems on-site: a simple firmware upgrade is all that’s needed. An offboard antenna also offers an enhanced connection in low signal areas.

Advancements in connectivity

Ian Moore, product manager at HKC Security, explained: “We are constantly looking for new ways in which to improve and upgrade our product offer in line with advancements in telecommunications and connectivity.”

Moore continued: “Enabling installers to provide future-proof security for their customers, we’ve developed the 4G Wi-Fi Dual Path Communicator for intruder protection supported by next-level reliability.”

Further, Moore observed: “By switching to a 4G connection, installers benefit from even faster access to their customers’ alarm panels in order to manage, update and monitor them. End users can also benefit from the assurance that their chosen installer is able to remotely access their alarm system through the SecureComm Cloud with minimal risk of network disruptions. There’s a robust and secure connection to what is a fully monitored cloud infrastructure.”
