SECURITY SYSTEMS and Alarms Inspection Board (SSAIB)-certified company Tindall Security has become the first alarm installation business to be accredited by Secured by Design (SBD), the official police security initiative.
Following on from heightened industry interest, SBD launched an alarm standard for alarm installation companies which incorporates existing criteria while also building on police and industry knowledge. The new enhanced alarm standard will ensure a high-quality alarm system, reduce false alarm call-outs and afford customers enhanced levels of reassurance that an alarm installation company meets the exacting standards demanded by the police service.
Tindall Security offers tailored services to suit individual preferences and needs, from simple domestic burglar/intruder alarm systems through to more sophisticated commercial protection and security solutions. The company’s in-house team of experts can design and install the latest high-quality technology for the best protection system to suit homes and businesses.
The company’s services include a diverse range of security solutions encompassing CCTV systems, fire alarms, SMART integration and video doorbell systems. Further, the business is SSAIB registered and certified for all aspects of the latter’s Security Systems scheme.
Peace of mind
David Pomfrett of Tindall Security revealed: “We’re thrilled to be the first company afforded the Secured by Design accreditation for alarm installation in the country. We work to provide people with peace of mind. Being an official police initiative, this will go a long way towards reassuring our customers.”
SSAIB CEO Alex Carmichael commented: “We would like to congratulate SSAIB-registered firm Tindall Security for being the first company in the UK to achieve SBD alarm installation certification. One of the many benefits of third party certification is that it allows companies to display their conformity to the relevant British and European Standards, while this new standard also permits them to further enhance their credentials – and their standing within the industry – by being named as a Police Preferred Specification alarm installer as well.”
Ken Meanwell of Police Crime Prevention Initiatives added: “I’m absolutely delighted that Tindall Security has become the first accredited SBD alarm installation company. It has never been more important for consumers to be able to rely on professional companies to deliver high quality alarm systems and services for them.”
Meanwell continued: “Compliant alarm systems and reputable installation companies are essential to ensure that there’s an appropriate response to any alarm activation. If the system isn’t compliant there will not be an immediate police response. That’s something which could be vital if someone’s in immediate danger or property is being stolen.”
Confidence for solution buyers
The new SBD alarm standard is not a replacement for the National Police Chiefs’ Council’s Security Systems Policy or an alternative for certification by one of the UKAS-accredited certification bodies such as the SSAIB.
However, installers meeting the new SBD alarm standard now have the option of joining this SBD scheme following an assessment conducted by their designated alarm inspectorate, thereby enabling solution and service buyers to have confidence in those system installers who are using the trusted Police Preferred Specification branding.
