SMC HAS announced the extension of its long-standing global partnership with Permaconn into the UK and Ireland. Effective immediately, SMC will support Permaconn’s “industry-first” quad-SIM triple path fire and security communicator, namely SecureLink, across these key territories.
As a specialist in the domain of monitoring solutions, SMC continually seeks new ways in which to elevate the value it delivers for installers and end customers alike. This latest announcement represents a natural progression for SMC’s 20-year partnership with Permaconn in Australia and New Zealand and allows the former to offer new and innovative solutions in the UK and Ireland.
SecureLink is the first of Permaconn’s connectivity solutions to be released in the UK and Ireland and “sets a new benchmark” for connectivity, reliability and uptime. Extensive field testing, including in some of the UK and Ireland’s most challenging connectivity ‘black spots’ (eg the Scottish Borders and Cornwall) has demonstrated SecureLink’s ability to maintain strong connectivity where other signalling solutions cannot and cellular phones are unable to receive any form of signal.
SecureLink also realises a new level of flexibility for installers, with a single device that can be adjusted to any grade from SP2 LAN to DP4 Radio-Radio (another ‘first’ for the UK and Ireland market). Traditionally, grade changes require a site revisit and co-ordination between the installer, the Alarm Receiving Centre and the signalling provider, often taking up to a week. SecureLink enables grade shifts to be implemented immediately by SMC, in turn saving significant amounts of time.
This combination of reliability, resilience and flexibility has been central to the success of the SMC -Permaconn relationship over decades, and is a key reason both organisations have chosen to extend the partnership into the UK and Ireland.
Positive for the industry
Henri Newman, director of SMC, explained: “As a security monitoring provider with a highly successful SMC operation across Australia and New Zealand, we welcome the introduction of this new signalling product into the UK and Ireland market. It’s positive for the industry to see additional technologies and suppliers emerging. Healthy competition and innovation help us all to evolve, strengthen our technology and services and deliver better outcomes for customers.”
Andrew Pears, Group CEO of Permaconn, added: “We’re extremely grateful for SMC’s support as we bring SecureLink to installers across the UK and Ireland. The organisation’s input into the SecureLink R&D programme has been hugely impactful, helping us to shape a Best-in-Class solution for the region based on our established connectivity platform, which protects over 400,000 buildings globally from the threat of fire and theft.”
SMC operates fully accredited Alarm Receiving Centres that monitor intruder, fire, CCTV and other critical systems on a 24/7 basis on behalf of security installers and their customers. The company’s trained operators handle alarms in real-time, verifying incidents, contacting key holders or the Emergency Services and managing responses through structured escalation plans. This ensures that businesses and organisations receive reliable protection without needing to operate their own Control Rooms.
SMC also supports a wide range of advanced services, including remote video verification, virtual patrols, access control support and lone worker safety solutions. Its infrastructure is designed for resilience, enabling the organisation to deliver consistent monitoring for sectors ranging from retail and commercial properties through to critical infrastructure and public institutions.
By combining technology, accredited processes and experienced operators, SMC provides a dependable backbone for modern security and fire response operations.
