THE NINETEEN Group – organiser of The Security Event – used this year’s tremendous exhibition (which ran from 25-27 April at the NEC in Birmingham) as the platform to present Sir William Gallagher (president and executive director of the Gallagher Group) with the inaugural Contribution to the Security Industry Award in recognition of Sir William’s achievements across a 60-year career in the sector.
Throughout that extensive time period, Sir William has consistently demonstrated exceptional vision by identifying emerging opportunities within the security industry and leading his team to create highly innovative products that are competitive on a global scale.
The award comes as the Gallagher Group celebrates its 85th Anniversary.
On receiving the Contribution to the Security Industry Award, Sir William explained: “What an honour it is to receive this accolade. Over the course of my career, I have been privileged to have been able to build upon the company that my father set up back in 1938. Through his invention of the electric fence, Gallagher has been able to forge a successful global company.”
Sir William continued: “No-one sets a higher standard in the security industry than Gallagher Security. As the Gallagher Group celebrates its 85th Anniversary, I am immensely proud of the company culture we have cultivated. It’s a culture of excellence, a culture of innovation and a culture of challenging ourselves to go further in order to solve critical, real-world problems.”
Dedication and passion
Tristan Norman, Group director at the Nineteen Group, presented the award to Sir William. “Sir William Gallagher is synonymous with the security industry,” urged Norman, “wielding formidable expertise and pioneering innovations that propel our illustrious global security community forward. Without reservation, I believe Sir William is the rightful recipient of the inaugural Contribution to the Security Industry Award.”
Further, Norman stated: “This award is a testament to Sir William’s unwavering dedication and passion for the security industry, as well as his contributions over many decades which have played a significant role in shaping the industry into what it is today. Sir William’s expertise and knowledge have been instrumental in helping the industry adapt to changing technologies and emerging threats, while his leadership has inspired many others to follow in his footsteps. We are honoured to recognise Sir William’s significant contributions and look forward to his continued impact on the security industry for years to come.”
Strong mix of attendees
Also in attendance at The Security Event this year was Richard Huison, Gallagher Security’s regional manager for the UK and Europe, who very kindly took time out of a very busy schedule to chat with Brian Sims Hon FSyI (Editor) and Leanne Velez (business development manager) from Security Matters, which once again served as Lead Media Partner for the show.
“Sir William’s award has been an obvious highlight for the team during The Security Event,” enthused Huison. “It has also been a wonderful opportunity to meet with security technology partners. We’ve witnessed a really strong mix of end users and consultants attending the stand. From Gallagher’s point of view, it’s exciting to hear the conversations about integrated security solutions being at the forefront of solving business problems now and into the future.”
Gallagher Security is, of course, a specialist in the arenas of access control, perimeter security and intruder alarms.
