Selectamark renews Secured by Design membership for 15th successive year

Selectamark’s BikeRegister database is used to record owner and bicycle details, while also providing 24/7 records access for the police, meaning that officers on the street can identify a bicycle’s owner within seconds. BikeRegister also provides protection for buyers and sellers of second-hand bikes, who can check frame numbers via www.bikeregister.com/checker to quickly confirm if a given bike has previously been reported stolen.

Improving and enhancing security

Secured by Design is owned by the UK police service and works to improve the security of buildings and their immediate surroundings, with the specific aim of reducing crime and helping people live in a safer environment. Importantly, Secured by Design is the only scheme membership by which companies can obtain police recognition for security-related products here in the UK.

For over 30 years, Secured by Design’s product-based accreditation scheme – the aforementioned Police Preferred Specification – has continued to provide a recognised standard for all security-related products that can both deter and reduce crime. The Secured by Design team works alongside a range of manufacturers and standards authorities to ensure that security standards are current and up-to-date with emerging criminal trends.

Secured by Design was established over 30 years ago and works with many partner organisations ranging from the Home Office right through to local authorities, housing associations, architects, developers and manufacturers.
