Professional Security moves to acquire Phoenix Security

LEEDS-BASED security company Professional Security has further strengthened its position in the hospitality security sector with the acquisition of Phoenix Security. It’s the company’s largest acquisition deal to date.

Phoenix Security was established back in May 2000 by managing director Steve Howe. The business currently employs over 1,200 door supervisors working across the UK, from Aberdeen down to Southampton.

Across the years, Phoenix Security has established an impressive client portfolio, listing McDonalds, Stonegate, KFC, the Revolution Bar Group, Turtle Bay, Lane 7, Roxy Leisure and Mojos among its customer base.

The acquisition deal will see Professional Security integrate the full Phoenix Security operations team into its four regional operational teams that cover the length and breadth of the UK.

Established in 2005, Professional Security works with several hospitality customers including many of the most influential independent, regional and national operators in the UK. The business has been through a transformational change over the last few years and now runs established hospitality and security guarding operations. Deployments include contracted services in England, Wales and Scotland.

Operational footprint

Professional Security’s CEO Dave Fullerton explained: “We are absolutely delighted with the acquisition of Phoenix Security. It’s an exceptionally well-run business and its operational footprint perfectly complements our own. The team at Phoenix has built up an incredible client portfolio and showcases an exceptional operations and front line team. We look forward to working with these team members over the coming weeks, months and years.”

Steve Howe, who now takes on the role of business director, responded: “I’m excited to be moving on to the next chapter with Professional Security. As a combined entity, we will have an unmatched nationwide staffing base and the biggest operational infrastructure in the sector. We’re very much aligned on strategy for the business and the direction of the industry and looking forward to combining Best Practice from both businesses in order to further strengthen the service we offer for our valued client base.”

Professional Security has fashioned an extensive senior leadership team and management infrastructure boasting a wealth of experience. Both Professional Security and Phoenix Security Approved Contractor Scheme registered businesses and wholly endorse Best Practice.

Jason Thorndycraft, COO at Professional Security, concluded: “We feel that, post-COVID, the security sector needs to re-regulate. There’s no doubt that this acquisition affords us the opportunity to make positive change.”
