MITIE HAS been awarded a new contract with Phoenix Group, the UK’s largest, long-term savings and retirement business, in order to deliver integrated facilities management services across the client’s substantial property estate.
The new five-year, £62 million contract will cover six locations in five cities nationwide, among them Edinburgh, London, Hitchin, Wythall and Telford, and will see Mitie expand its existing relationship with Phoenix Group.
Under this contract, Mitie is going to deliver an array of facilities management services including security, planned and reactive maintenance, waste management, landscaping, decarbonisation and additional project work.
The new partnership marks the first time that all facilities management services across the Phoenix Group’s estate have been brought together under one provider, in turn enabling Mitie to fashion a truly integrated approach to facilities management service delivery.
Sustainability credentials
Mitie’s sustainability credentials will play a key role in delivering this contract and supporting Phoenix Group’s commitment to decarbonisation. With a focus on reducing carbon emissions, Mitie is to appoint a designated Plan Zero Energy manager who’ll be responsible for identifying energy saving opportunities and reducing energy consumption as part of a carbon performance guarantee.
Mitie will also support Phoenix Group’s investment in its people through its own ‘Connected Workspace’ to foster greater levels of workplace connectivity and collaboration. This includes implementing Mitie’s technologies and applications to enhance the workplace experience, optimise the efficiency of services and facilitate flexible working across Phoenix Group’s estate.
Further, Mitie is set to create a cultural change programme that aligns with the Phoenix Group’s own vision for equality, diversity and inclusion.
Single stewardship
Simon Venn, managing director for technical services at Mitie, commented: “We’re proud that Phoenix Group has entrusted us to bring all of its facilities management services together under our stewardship. We look forward to continuing our partnership, bringing our market-leading technology and exceptional people to enhance the workplace experience across Phoenix Group’s sites and help in making the organisation’s net zero ambitions a reality.”
Jackie Cowper, premises and resilience director at the Phoenix Group, responded: “We are excited to begin a new partnership with Mitie and, together, play our part in helping to create the best place in which we’ve ever worked. This collaboration will see a ‘one team’-style approach for enhancing our colleague experience, delivering on our sustainability ambitions and ensuring flexibility in what is now an ever-changing environment.”
