THE NATIONAL Security Inspectorate (NSI) will host expert-led seminar sessions at The Security Event and the inaugural outing of Professional Security Officer Live. Organised by the Nineteen Group, The Security Event (for which Security Matters serves as Lead Media Partner) encompassing Professional Security Officer Live takes place on 25-27 April at the NEC in Birmingham.
On Wednesday 26 April at 12.30 pm in The Security Event’s Security in Practice Theatre, Matthew Holliday (the NSI’s director of approval schemes) will seek to answer the question: ‘How does cyber security affect security systems?’ In doing so, Holliday is going to examine how cyber security is affecting the fire and security sector and how it might be implemented for customer sites at both the organisational and installation levels.
Who should assume responsibility for the different elements of cyber security and the risk posed to organisations if the threat isn’t defined? In addition to addressing that question, Holliday will also share an update on some of the latest developments in relation to regulation and standardisation both here in the UK and across the European Union.
On Thursday 27 April at 1.00 pm in the Professional Security Officer Live Theatre, Clare Rogers (the NSI’s senior operations manager for services) will deliver a presentation entitled: ‘Why front line staff and buyers are involved in the audit process: the value and outcomes’.
Shining a spotlight on why site visits with members of staff and buyers are important to the certification audit process, Rogers will discuss the challenges and explain how greater involvement can add value and improve outcomes. This session will be of great interest to front line security officers, senior management and the procurers of security guarding services.
Event Partner
Bringing together 250-plus exhibitors, 10,000-plus industry professionals and a tailored education programme across the three days at the NEC, The Security Event provides a valuable opportunity for those working in the UK’s security sector to connect and keep up-to-date with the latest technologies, products, services and insights.
As an official Event Partner, the NSI invites approved companies and those interested in gaining independent certification to attend and chat with members of the NSI’s team on Stand L45 in Hall 4. They’ll be able to learn more about how certification can deliver Best Practice, improve efficiencies and enhance performance for the benefit of businesses and clients alike.
The NSI is also an Event Partner for the all-new ‘show within a show’ that is Professional Security Officer Live. This event showcases an exhibition area and conference programme dedicated to front line security professionals and guarding services providers. Bringing together wide-ranging security solutions across multiple environments, this hub is designed to help security personnel to more effectively address challenges with a keen focus on improving security performance and standards.
Both The Security Event and Professional Security Officer Live will deliver highly informative and interactive environments for those working within the security business sector.
The NSI’s new CEO Richard Fogelman commented: “Having recently taken over at the helm of the NSI, I’m very much looking forward to attending these upcoming events in order to meet with representatives from approved companies, stakeholders and those interested in learning more about independent certification.”
Fogelman added: “Enabling more companies to benefit from Best Practice to improve efficiency and performance is central to raising standards within the security and guarding services sectors, and particularly so in today’s business environment. The NSI is wholly committed to helping organisations operate more effectively and mitigate risks.”
