MILESTONE SYSTEMS, the video technology developer, has partnered with the Common Vulnerability and Exposures (CVE) Programme as a CVE Numbering Authority (CNA). The underpinning aim of the CVE Programme is to find, describe and then catalogue known cyber security issues.
Working with the CVE Programme, organisations worldwide find and share these vulnerabilities. They publish CVE Records outlining clear details about the issues involved in order to assist IT and cyber security experts in talking about the same problem and working together to fix it.
Thomas Jensen, CEO of Milestone Systems, observed: “Milestone Systems is committed to transparency in cyber security across the business. As responsible technology becomes a license to operate, we believe that people have the right to feel safe knowing that they can trust video technology.”
Jensen added: “As a CVE Programme partner, we will now publish mitigated vulnerabilities to the wider community, which will then allow Milestone to co-ordinate and address potential issues even more effectively. This will further enhance our cyber security posture and allow trust in XProtect open platform video management software to build still further.”
Vulnerability reporting
Cyber security vulnerabilities will continue to be reported via Milestone’s website. The registration will now be under CVE ID numbers, while vulnerabilities and mitigations will be accessible through Milestone’s profile on the CVE website, as well as at www.milestonesys.com
There is one CVE Record for each vulnerability in the catalogue. The vulnerabilities are discovered before being assigned and published by organisations from around the world who have chosen to partner with the CVE Programme.
Partners publish CVE Records to communicate consistent descriptions of vulnerabilities. IT and cyber security professionals use CVE Records to ensure they’re discussing the same issue and also co-ordinate their efforts in order to prioritise and address the vulnerabilities.
