CERTIFICATION BODY ISACA, a global leader in the arena of cyber security certifications, and BIT Training (the dedicated provider of IT and cyber security apprenticeships) have joined forces on a new partnership designed to bridge the cyber security skills gap in the UK.
The partnership marks the launch of the Cyber Level 4 Security Risk Analyst Apprenticeship Programme, which is the first of its kind to incorporate the internationally recognised Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) and Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC) certifications directly into its curriculum.
The programme offers a blend of on-the-job training and academic learning, leading to a nationally recognised qualification. Apprentices will gain practical experience working on real-world cyber security projects. While at the same time earning industry-leading certifications and positioning them for successful careers in the cyber field.
The Level 4 Cyber Security Risk Analyst Apprenticeship Programme reduces the reliance on graduate programmes, in turn opening the door for organisations of all sizes to attract talent from diverse backgrounds and with differing experience levels, whereas previously there was a limitation imposed by degree requirements. This expands the talent pool and fosters a more inclusive cyber security workforce.
Given increased internal mobility, organisations can upskill existing employees, regardless of their educational background, and create a pipeline of talent underpinned by the promotion of long-term career development.
Continuity of operations
“The UK is facing a cyber security skills gap that threatens business success,” asserted Chris Dimitriadis, chief global strategy officer at ISACA. “We are immensely proud to be part of the new apprenticeship programme. This partnership is designed to prepare organisations by delivering the next generation of highly-skilled cyber security leaders, ensuring continuity of business operations and enhancing resilience.”
Faisal Malik, director of global sales for ISACA, noted: “This innovative collaboration represents a significant advancement for the cyber security industry. By embedding the CISM and CRISC certifications into the Level 4 apprenticeship programme, we are broadening globally recognised credentials to encompass a more diverse pool of talent, including those individuals who may not have pursued a traditional degree in cyber security.”
Dan Troke, director of apprenticeships at BIT Training, observed: “We are thrilled to partner with ISACA in offering this transformative apprenticeship programme. By integrating the CISM and CRISC certifications, we are ensuring that apprentices graduate with the knowledge, skills and industry recognition needed to excel in the cyber security workforce. This apprenticeship programme opens doors for individuals seeking a career in cyber security, regardless of them not having attained a degree.”
Comprehensive curriculum
The Level 4 Cyber Security Risk Analyst Apprenticeship Programme offers a comprehensive curriculum that goes beyond CISM and CRISC, providing valuable training and certifications programmes in alternative areas such as fundamental IT security knowledge and skills, cloud security, security protocols, information security, encryption, network security and ISO 27001 Lead Implementer training.
The end result is a well-rounded set of skills that prepares apprentices for making an immediate impact in real-world security roles.
