GATE SAFE – the registered charity founded in 2010 specifically to improve the standard of safety for the installation and maintenance of automated gates and barriers in a variety of applications – has now established a licensing agreement with industry professionals in Australia to address the growing need for the roll-out of specialist automated gate and barrier training.
The organisation is set to trade under the name Gate Safe Australia and will be headquartered in Melbourne. The Australian operation will have access to the Gate Safe training programme and all associated technical guidance and marketing collateral.
The business will operate as an independent organisation raising awareness of the correct protocols to ensure the safety of automated gates and barriers and deliver gate safety training both in-person and online.
Gate Safe has recorded numerous automated gate accidents in Australia and has been in discussion with colleagues ‘down under’ for over two years prior to reaching the current agreement.
Richard Jackson OBE, the founder of Gate Safe, informed Security Matters: “Our primary objective has always been to put a stop to further accidents involving automated gates. While our focus is clearly on the UK, if we have the tools and resources to help other countries address this issue and, to put it bluntly, save lives, then we will of course offer our support.”
Jackson continued: “The UK has been working on this important safety concern for over 15 years and we are well placed to provide access to expert counsel thanks to years of relevant experience in the sector. We will be working closely with the team running Gate Safe Australia to ensure the Gate Safe messaging and standard of training remains consistent with the UK programme.”
