Dahua and HKC join growing list of sponsors at Skills for Security

EARLIER THIS year, Skills for Security launched its sponsorship programme aimed squarely at helping to solve the skills crisis impacting the security business sector. Now, Dahua Technology and HKC have been announced as the latest industry supporters to provide their backing for the initiative.

Surveillance specialist Dahua Technology places technical innovation at the heart of its operations, investing over 10% of its annual turnover in R&D.

In the UK and Ireland, the business runs regular training and certification programmes to give installers and engineers the necessary skills required to design and install the most appropriate solutions.

The courses realise a combination of theory and hands-on practical training using state-of-the-art technology. This enables participants to develop the skills they need to deliver the best solutions. The courses are tailored to different skills levels and requirements, making it easy to select the most appropriate course.

“We are very pleased to be able to sponsor Skills for Security in its mission to promote Best Practice and high-quality training among new and existing security and fire safety system installers and engineers,” explained Michael Lawrence, marketing director at Dahua UK and Ireland. “We place a particularly high priority on education, training and certification through our extensive training programmes, so it’s fitting that we are sponsoring the leading apprenticeship training provider in the UK.”

David Scott, managing director of Skills for Security, commented: “We’re delighted to welcome Dahua as one of our sponsors. The company’s groundbreaking technology adds a new dimension to our curriculum and Training Centres, affording learners Best-in-Class technology. We look forward to working with the Dahua Technology team on upcoming initiatives.”

The sponsorship deal includes support for the National Apprentice Show series of events taking place around the UK, promotion of the fire and security apprenticeship scheme and support for Training Centres across the country.

Intruder alarms

HKC joined the growing list of Skills for Security supporters in October in order to offer its backing for the drive to attract a new pipeline of talent and make the security sector a career destination of choice.

HKC is feature alongside other supporters on the Skills for Security stand at the aforementioned National Apprenticeship Shows, which began with the event in in Liverpool on 23-24 November. The aim here is to showcase the security and fire sectors to thousands of school and college leavers.

HKC has been trusted by professional installers throughout the UK and Ireland for over 30 years now as a leading provider of wired and wireless intruder alarm equipment. The company’s solutions have evolved to include end user and engineer apps and it’s this technology that will be rolled-out across the Skills for Security Training Centres.

James Gribben, commercial director at Skills for Security, stated: “We are so pleased to have HKC supporting us. Such backing has allowed us to invest in the National Apprenticeship Shows across the country.”

Paul Fitzgerald, managing director of HKC, responded: “We have been proud supporters of licenced professional installers for over 30 years having never operated in the DIY space. The work that Skills for Security is doing to attract the next generation of professionals and keep standards in the industry high is invaluable. It’s a perfect fit for us to lend our support. We will be providing the apprentices with SecureWave panels and the SecureComm cloud services so that they can learn a hybrid system that links to a cloud portal and app.”

Skills for Security – itself a not-for-profit subsidairy of the British Security Industry Association – is the leading apprenticeship training provider in the UK across the electronic security and fire sectors. The organisation works with employers to set National Occupational Standards and improve security skills and professionalism by providing access to training, apprenticeships and security qualifications for those employed in security and fire safety roles.
