BT REDCARE, the trusted provider of ‘no compromise’-style alarm signalling, has announced the launch of a Classic and GSM replacement bundle ahead of the network supporting these products being shut down in 2025.
The replacement bundle incorporates BT Redcare’s Advanced Extra signalling solution alongside two new products that have been designed to make swap-out quick and easy for installers and customers. The Plug-in Adaptor allows for an update of older systems without the expense of replacing the customer’s alarm panel. Redcare Connect is a secure wireless Ethernet cable replacement that mitigates the need for physical connectivity wiring.
BT Redcare’s Classic and GSM products, which are both original Grade 4 solutions, have been considered the ‘gold standard’ of alarm signalling for decades. However, with the wider transition to fibre, analogue networks becoming more difficult to maintain and the Public Switched Telephone Network service switch-off fast approaching, customers need to transition away from legacy networks.
With a need to upgrade to All-IP equivalents, BT Redcare introduces the replacement bundle which makes it easy for installers to upgrade customers and ensure they remain connected.
Competitive pricing
The replacement bundle is “competitively priced” when set against other non-diverse technology dual-path systems available on the market. It also comes with no equipment, postage or connection charges and billing on activation, which is designed to help installers with their upgrades.
The bundle is available for new installation projects as well as any legacy system upgrade.
BT Redcare’s Advanced Extra is a true dual-path alarm signalling solution, suitable for fire, security or both, with DP3 performance (equivalent to the old Grade 4). With IP and 4G dual SIM back-up providing extra resilience, it enables signals to be sent in seconds. It can also report path faults in as little as three minutes.
Like all solutions in the ‘Next Generation Portfolio’, its ECHO-ready, LPCB and BSI Kitemark-certified and comes with a ten-year product guarantee. It has also gained a Secure Connected Device accreditation, which is an official police crime initiative, as part of the Secured by Design programme.
The Plug-In Adaptor is a new product that simplifies upgrades by using the existing alarm panel footprint employed by the Classic and GSM products. They can be easily replaced, keeping the same security panel, meaning that installers only need to take out the Classic or GSM STU and replace it with the Advanced Extra. The Plug-In Adaptor can be used with all devices within the BT Redcare ‘Next Generation Portfolio’.
Redcare Connect is a new wireless Ethernet solution that sends secure signals directly from the panel to the customer’s router using private Wi-Fi and/or long-range Internet of Things technology for stronger coverage. The new wireless solution is simple to install.
Preparing for All-IP
Nick Whiting, head of BT Redcare, stated: “Installers are essential in preparing the nation in time for All-IP. To ensure their customers stay protected, they will need to upgrade their legacy systems to next generation solutions.”
Whiting continued: “Our replacement bundle mitigates the time and cost it can take to replace older systems. Making things as simple and cost-effective as possible for installers, and keeping our own customers protected with the most up-to-date technology, are always priorities for us. This launch will further help the move to All-IP.”
