British Security Awards moves to new venue and date for 2023

THE BRITISH Security Industry Association’s (BSIA) flagship event, the British Security Awards, is set to move to a new venue and date for 2023. Now entering their 26th year, the British Security Awards will take place on Wednesday 21 June, a week earlier than previous years, at the same time moving from the London Marriott Hotel on Grosvenor Square to instead run at the iconic Grand Connaught Rooms in Covent Garden.

The 2022 event at the London Marriott Hotel sold out, prompting the decision to move to a bigger venue this year as the British Security Awards continues its growth and becomes one of the major events on the security industry’s calendar.

Entries for this year’s British Security Awards are being welcomed from Monday 9 January with submissions initially focusing on the regional security personnel categories. Seven days later on Monday 16 January, the national business-focused categories open for entries. In total, the British Security Awards encompasses 16 separate categories.

Dates and category details

Regional security personnel categories close for entries on Friday 24 March, with the regional winners then announced on Wednesday 12 April. As always, all regional winners will automatically be entered into the national finals. The national business categories close for entries on Friday 7 April. National finalists in these categories will then be unveiled on Tuesday 2 May.

The security personnel categories are Best Newcomer, Best Team, Service to the Customer, Security Manager of the Year, Best Use of Technology and Outstanding Act.

National business categories for 2023 are Large Business of the Year, SME of the Year, Innovative Security Project of the Year, National Partnership of the Year, Environmental Project of the Year, Installer of the Year, Corporate Social Responsibility Initiative of the Year, Equality, Diversity and Inclusivity Champion of the Year (which is a new category for 2023) and Apprentice of the Year. There’s also the prestigious Contribution to the Industry Award.

Celebrating security excellence

Mike Reddington, CEO at the BSIA, explained: “The British Security Awards is fast becoming one of the key industry events. After our most successful year in 2022, we’ve decided to move to a bigger venue this year. We have been receiving increasing numbers of entries and ticket requests since 2018. Lockdown aside, the number of attendees has grown each year, meaning that we were actually at capacity at our previous venue in 2022.”

Reddington continued: “The Grand Connaught Rooms is the venue we feel best meets the requirements of this prestigious annual event and will provide a welcoming and high-quality environment for our members and stakeholders alike in which to network and celebrate security excellence.”
