IN ORDER to enable extended user control, barox Kommunikation AG (the global manufacturer of professional standard switches, PoE media converters and IP extenders) has heralded a “seamless integration” with the Geutebrück Video Management System (VMS).
barox’s capability to integrate its advanced Device Management System (DMS) network monitoring tool is somewhat unique in the CCTV market and greatly extends Geutebrück’s video security solution control functionality. By enabling easy integration to the barox Ethernet switch range, barox’s new Geutebrück plug-in reinforces the company’s ethos of offering network solutions tailored to meet the needs of the modern video security market.
The Geutebrück VMS is characterised by its ease of use for the playback of live images and recordings, which can be individually adapted to the requirements of the end user. Protecting sensitive data from unauthorised access, specific rights for user groups and locations can be adjusted in the background according to defined requirements.
Image and video data are stored in forgery-proof Geutebrück format, which means that it can also serve as evidence in court. The system can be used stand-alone or otherwise expanded through the addition of several systems.
The barox integration also allows end users to directly manage all IP devices on their security network via Geutebrück VMS, allowing cameras to be switched off completely for security reasons (ie in the event of a compromised data line) or turned off and on to perform a re-boot procedure.
Software-based management
In addition to the released barox plug-in, Geutebrück enables end users to leverage the advantages of a barox DMS in its architecture and manage all IP devices in their security network directly through software. This is intended to provide users with all of the benefits offered in conjunction with the barox DMS.
The barox DMS offers a live graphical overview of network topology, displaying a variety of valuable network information, including Omnicast system diagnostic data that indicates the status of cameras and switches, in turn facilitating the quick localisation of network or device issues.
Other indispensable barox advantages include 100 Mbit/s-1,000 Mbit/s Jumbo Frames to ensure that camera images are not lost, cable diagnostics and also remote switch traffic monitoring, whereby live traffic data is displayed on a graphical chart. The ability to view traffic on each port eases the diagnosis of errors and failures on a remote basis.
Ultimate user control
“We are pleased that the integration for Geutebrück’s VMS and barox switches is now available,” enthused Rudolf Rohr, co-founder and managing partner of barox. “This integration allows for ultimate user control of our Ethernet switches directly from the Geutebrück VMS. The advanced switch functionality of barox provides significant added value for the operators of professional video security systems working for Government agencies, local authorities, the transportation, energy and retail sectors or prisons.”
Ulf Hüther, head of technology partner management at Geutebrück GmbH, responded: “The integration of barox DMS-Health Monitoring and the specially developed plug-in for the Geutebrück VMS software marks another step forward in the long-standing collaboration between Geutebrück and barox. This profound co-operation aligns with growing end user demand in key-critical sectors.”
Hüther added: “In conjunction with barox, the clear goal is to provide Geutebrück users with an higher level of security, a complete overview and also control of the entire system. The ease of operation of individual components is cleverly integrated into what is a comprehensive overall solution.”
