BAROX KOMMUNIKATION AG’s commitment to raising environmental standards has recently been rewarded, with the company’s commitment to global standards of quality assurance, manufacturing and business being reinforced due to once again passing its ISO 14001, ISO 27001 and ISO 9001 compliance audits.
As part of ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems, barox consistently pursues the goal of systematically identifying and evaluating its own environmental impact and minimising it through reduction strategies.
In respect of barox’s commitment to green manufacturing and in accordance with ISO 14001, a recent audit reveals that the manufacturer has further reduced its carbon dioxide emissions within three key areas.
First, in order to reduce the amount of plastic used in its packaging solutions, barox has made a gradual switch to the use of alternative materials. Optimising its packaging design and establishing specific third arty supplier requirements, barox has continuously reduced its amount of plastic content. Since 2019, barox has almost halved the amount of plastic used in its product packaging.
The second focus was to reduce carbon dioxide emissions within the total barox supply chain with a particular emphasis on transportation from itsfactories and sub-contractors to the manufacturer. In this respect, an ongoing strategy of switching from air to sea freight is delivering a positive impact on reductions.
Finally, employees are being educated on effective waste separation across all barox sites, with a steady improvement in the handling of recyclable materials. In a very simple, but nevertheless effective measure, reusable packaging received into the company is being re-employed in barox product deliveries to customers.
Prioritising integration
“A growing number of our customers are prioritising the integration of an environmental management system, which drives our pursuit of ISO 14001 certification,” explained Rudolf Rohr, co-founder and managing director at barox.
“Throughout this process, we discovered that adopting environmentally conscious practices not only fulfils regulatory expectations, but also yields economic advantages. What initially seemed like challenges actually presented opportunities for substantial enhancements. At barox, we recognise that environmental stewardship is integral to our corporate ethos and societal obligations. Strategically, investing in environmental sustainability proves to be a prudent and forward-thinking business strategy.”
Rohr continued: “The green-focused management ethos of barox in both product and process development is a target at all levels of the company to further ecological and process-orientated improvements. We’re determined not to rest on our success in this field and we’ll continue along this path with determination and foresight. Our processes have been put through their paces, and we’re proud to announce that we’ve once again successfully passed the ISO 14001, ISO 27001 and ISO 9001 certifications.”
