NATIONWIDE FACILITIES management and support services business the Atlas Group has acquired the Aston Services Group, itself a company with over 20 years of experience in the sector that’s based in Leyland, Lancashire. The deal for the £20 million turnover company strengthens the Atlas Group’s presence in the northern region by bringing the Aston Services Group’s high-quality support services into the mix.
Aston Services Group mainly operates in the North of England and the Midlands. Its 668 employees work across contracts for prestigious clients including Savills, Workman, APP and Bellrock. The majority of those contracts are focused on security, cleaning or a combination of the two.
Demonstrating its credentials as a quality business, the Aston Services Group recently won a Business Against Crime in Leeds (BACIL) Award for having what the Judging Panel deemed to be the best daytime security team.
The company’s high-performance approach also centres on its own people. the Aston Services Group is a Recognised Service Provider with the Living Wage Foundation and. Like the Atlas Group, has signed the Armed Forces Covenant as it employs many ex-Armed Services personnel.
In the last 12 months, the Aston Services Group has grown by 30% as a result of “employing people who genuinely care about what they do”. This was seen as important to the Atlas Group agreement as it brings a complementary culture with a stated purpose of ‘creating happiness’ for others.
Regional leader
Chris Wisely, CEO of the Atlas Group, said: “We are delighted to bring the Aston Services Group into our Atlas Group family. We see ASG as a regional leader with a reputation for quality. This grows our existing security and services offer in the North and the Midlands. The ‘family’-style culture of the Aston Services Group fits nicely with our own ethics. We look forward to working with our newest colleagues as we seek to deliver solutions for even more customers.”
Nick Atkinson, managing director of the Aston Services Group, responded: “All of us at the Aston Services Group are very excited about the benefits this deal brings for both ourselves and the Atlas Group. From an Aston Services Group point of view, this new arrangement will certainly help us grow the company and offer an even brighter future for all our talented team. Atlas Group’s scale allows us to offer our high-quality services to even more prospective clients right across the UK.”
Founded almost 40 years ago, the Atlas Group has grown from being a small local business to a nationwide concern. The Group offers the full suite of facilities management services to its clients, employing circa 11,000 people at over 6,000 sites and working with many of Britain’s best-known brands.
