Western Business Media acquires PSI, Benchmark and Risk Xtra

WESTERN BUSINESS Media – the publisher of Security Matters – has purchased Professional Security Installer, Benchmark and Risk Xtra magazines from Pro-Activ Publications Ltd. The acquisition means that Western Business Media – also the founder and owner of the Fire and Security Matters Awards – is now the UK’s largest publisher in the security sector.

Pro-Activ Publications Ltd’s managing director Mark Quittenton launched Professional Security Installer magazine back in 1995. He now joins Western Business Media as consultant publisher across Professional Security Installer, Benchmark and Risk Xtra.

All members of staff currently working on these titles – including PSI’s long-standing Editor Andy Clutton – will remain in post. The combined team across these titles boasts over 50 years’ experience in covering the security sector.

Going forward, Mark Quittenton will work alongside Western Business Media’s owners and directors Mark Sennett, Keith Gabriel and Danny Kosifou to grow Western Business Media’s security publications portfolio, which boasts a reach of more than 140,000 UK-based subscribers comprising installers, end users and consultants practising in the security sector.

New era

Speaking about the announcement, Mark Quittenton explained: “The Pro-Activ Publications Ltd team is excited to be working with Western Business Media as we take these titles forward into a new era, supporting and informing the industry as it grows. I’m delighted to be part of this development.”

Western Business Media’s CEO Mark Sennett responded: “We are delighted to have purchased Professional Security Installer, Benchmark, Risk Xtra and the Professional Security Installer Awards and extremely proud to now be the biggest publisher serving the UK’s security sector.”

Sennett added: “We are excited to welcome Mark and his team to Western Business Media and cannot wait to grow these publication and awards alongside Security Matters and the Fire and Security Matters Awards, in addition to the all-new Security Matters Live Conference, which takes place for the first time in Coventry on 13 June 2024.”

Further, Sennett noted: “From the point of view of our clients and readers, we are now stronger as a combined business. We offer quality security magazines, digital products and live events that cater for the entire buying chain. Our audience reach has never been more extensive.”
