Texecom announced as latest sponsor of Skills for Security

SECURITY SYSTEMS developer Texecom has been announced as the latest sponsor of Skills for Security. Texecom’s award-winning products are supported by a long history of promoting training, skills and apprenticeships in the sector.

Thanks to this new partnership arrangement, Skills for Security hopes to appeal to an entirely new audience in its continued efforts to address the skills gap. Given its innovative cloud platform, the hope is that Texecom will support this move.

Cloud technology is hugely attractive to the next generation of young professionals and could encourage them to enter the security sector and then progress to forge a successful career.

Texecom’s array of products will be present at every event Skills for Security attends throughout the remainder of this year, duly showcasing the types of new technology used in the security business sector on a daily basis.

David Scott, managing director at Skills for Security, commented: “Texecom has always been hugely supportive of everything we do here at Skills for Security, from the supply of its latest kit and technologies through to the competitions we run throughout the sector. We’re proud to have such a supportive partner on board with our sponsorship initiative.”

The companies have worked closely together for a number of years on the WorldSkills UK competition entitled Engineers of Tomorrow and, in tandem, have trained over 600 apprentices. Expanding this collaboration is set to make a meaningful impact in preparing the next generation of security professionals for the hybrid world which the industry now inhabits.

Closing the skills gap

Skills for Security launched its sponsorship initiative back in May in an effort to close the skills gap in the security industry and drive growth. Since then, and with the support of its partners, Skills for Security has reinvested over £100,000 into the industry, in turn supporting young people into careers within the security and fire sectors.

Andy Keeley, head of marketing for Texecom, explained: “At Texecom, we’re committed to investing in security’s next generation of professionals. Partnering with Skills for Security ensures that we are not only helping to bridge the skills gap in our sector, but also providing the right support and equipment to help train apprentices and new entrants to the industry.”

Later in the year, Skills for Security, the British Security Industry Association, Texecom and CSL will be represented at the WorldSkills UK finals, in which the Engineers of Tomorrow competition winners compete for a national title and again at the National Apprenticeship Show, which reaches more school and college leavers than any other event of its kind.
