HKC SECURITY has announced upgrades to SW-10270 and SmartLink700. The company is introducing significant new functionality that affords installers greater flexibility when configuring Technical Zones, while also enhancing system performance and supporting the next generation of HKC devices.
The co-ordinated launch of the SW-10270 v4.4.6 firmware and SmartLink700 v1.7.8 software represents one of the most comprehensive enhancements to HKC’s Technical Zone functionality to date, enabling installers to configure each Technical Zone independently rather than applying settings globally across the system.
This realises greater control over a wide range of applications, including the detection of water, medical alarms, freeze, heat, vape and more, allowing each zone to be tailored to its specific purpose.
Among the new capabilities is the introduction of individual 12-character descriptions for each Technical Zone, making programming more intuitive and providing end users with clearer information should a technical event occur.
For their part, installers can also configure new per-zone options including activation delays, configurable SIA reporting codes, Pulse and Gross detection, Internal Bell activation and the new Latch Alarm feature, which requires a user to acknowledge and clear critical technical events before returning the system to normal operation.
Greater control
The update also provides greater control over logging and reporting behaviour, allowing installers to determine how each Technical Zone records events, displays notifications and communicates with Alarm Receiving Centres. This level of configuration means that systems can be adapted more effectively to the needs of individual installations, reducing unnecessary events, while also ensuring critical alarms receive the appropriate response.
The ‘Weeks to Service’ timer has also been increased from 99 to 255 weeks, allowing installers to configure service reminders over a longer period and prompt end users when a service is required after two, three or four years.
Alongside the firmware enhancements, SmartLink700 v1.7.8 has been updated to fully support the new Technical Zone functionality. Additional improvements have been introduced, among them support for forthcoming RF Midi sensors, new RF device configuration options, enhanced programming tools and improved installer guidance.
The new software versions have also been developed to support HKC’s upcoming Midi sensor trial, ensuring that installers have access to the latest programming features ahead of the new product launch.
Further enhancements include the addition of the new ‘Reeds on Partset’ option for RF-Contact and RF-Contact Sensors, allowing installers to protect a window while it remains open, thereby providing greater flexibility for part-set applications.
Enhanced flexibility
Ian Moore, head of technical at HKC Security, explained: “Our latest firmware and SmartLink700 updates give installers significantly more flexibility when designing and configuring systems. Allowing every Technical Zone to be programmed independently means that installers can create more intelligent and application-specific solutions that are easier to commission and, ultimately, deliver a better experience for end users.”
Moore added: “These enhancements also provide the foundation for our upcoming Midi sensor range, ensuring that installers have the tools they need to install new systems quickly and efficiently, while continuing to benefit from system reliability and ease of programming.”
The new functionality is available on SW-10270 control panels running firmware version 4.4.6 together with SmartLink700 v1.7.8.
Due to hardware memory limitations, these enhancements are not supported on legacy SW-1070 control panels manufactured before 2015. Customers wishing to take advantage of the new functionality will need to upgrade to an SW-10270 PCB.
