Omdia ranks Milestone Systems first for combined VMS and cloud-based security

MILESTONE SYSTEMS – the celebrated developer of data-driven video technology – is the largest single provider of video management software (VMS) and Video Surveillance-as-a-Service (VSaaS) in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA). That’s according to the latest market share data gathered by technology research and advisory group Omdia.

In fact, Milestone Systems’ solutions account for nearly one-fifth (19.1%) of the overall EMEA market, which includes the UK and Ireland. It’s a market-leading position that hasn’t altered since 2021.

Across the EMEA region, the VMS and VSaaS market grew by 10% in 2025 to reach a total of £432 million, with the Middle East and Eastern European zones presiding over particular growth.

Omdia’s figures emerge at a time when organisations across the EMEA region are increasingly using video to support operational decision-making alongside security. Across the traffic management, transportation, retail and manufacturing domains, video data is helping organisations to better understand how sites and services alike perform and then make more informed decisions.

Evolving customer needs

Morten Illum, chief revenue officer at Milestone Systems, observed: “This ranking reflects what customers across the EMEA region continue to seek: open and flexible video technology that gives them choice today and room to evolve tomorrow.”

Illum added: “Together with members of our partner community, we help customers to design systems around their specific needs, while in tandem future-proofing their investment as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and cloud technologies transform the value of video beyond security.”

Milestone Systems’ leading position is built on three key offerings: Milestone XProtect VMS, Milestone BriefCam AI-powered analytics and Milestone Arcules cloud VSaaS. Together, they afford organisations the flexibility to deploy video on-premise, in the cloud or across hybrid environments, while at the same time adding analytics without replacing existing systems.

Driving growth

The UK and Ireland remain strategically important markets for Milestone Systems. Earlier this year, the company opened its London Concept Centre, an interactive space where end users, integrators and partners can explore Milestone Systems technology alongside solutions from partners including Axis Communications, Bosch, Gallagher Security, Hanwha Vision Europe, Honeywell, i-PRO, ADI, Oprema, Zenitel and 2N before designing a system.

Martin McGrath, sales director for the UK and Ireland at Milestone Systems, commented: “The UK is a demanding market and rightly so. Organisations increasingly expect their video systems to support business decisions as well as their security needs, while continuing to adapt as operations evolve. Our leading position across EMEA gives customers confidence that the platform they choose today will remain open, supported and continuously developed in the years ahead.”

Milestone Systems is also investing in the data foundations behind video AI through Project Hafnia, its regulatory-compliant video data library, in addition to brighter AI anonymisation technology. In parallel, these initiatives are designed to afford customers greater transparency in terms of how AI models are trained.
