NORBAIN – THE Bracknell-headquartered distributor of IP video, surveillance systems, access control and intruder detection solutions – has forged a new supplier partnership with iLOQ, the Finnish organisation specialising in digital, keyless and battery‑free access management.
This development strengthens Norbain’s access control offer in the UK market thanks to iLOQ’s sustainable, low‑maintenance locking solutions purpose-designed for securing critical infrastructure and remote assets.
When it comes to securing critical assets, traditional electronic locking systems can carry hidden costs associated with batteries, cabling, ongoing maintenance and system downtime. iLOQ addresses these challenges through a fundamentally different approach to electronic locking.
Eliminating power dependency
iLOQ’s technology is based on self‑powered locking cylinders and padlocks that require no external power source. With no batteries, wiring or mains electricity required, each lock is powered by the energy harvested from an NFC‑enabled smart phone at the point of access. As such, this enables secure and controlled entry, while in parallel eliminating power dependency and significantly reducing lifecycle costs.
The battery‑free design makes iLOQ particularly well suited to remote, dispersed or otherwise hard‑to‑reach locations where maintenance visits are costly and traditional powered locking systems are impractical.
Typical applications include public facilities (eg schools and hospitals), commercial buildings, utilities infrastructure, telecommunications sites, Critical National Infrastructure, transport networks and industrial environments.
Expanded portfolio
“We’re delighted to be partnering with iLOQ as we continue to expand our smart access control portfolio,” explained Buzz Coates, security solutions specialist at Norbain. “iLOQ’s innovative, battery‑free technology aligns strongly with Norbain’s focus on delivering secure and future‑ready solutions. We’re excited about the value this partnership will bring to our customers.”
Organisations across multiple sectors are increasingly adopting iLOQ’s solutions due to their operational and environmental benefits including:
*battery‑free operation: no batteries to replace, recycle or fail
*reduced maintenance costs: fewer site visits and less downtime
*improved reliability: no dependency on power or cabling
*secure, keyless access: digital credentials managed centrally
*sustainability benefits: lower environmental impact over the system lifecycle
*ideal for remote locations: effective where power is unavailable or unreliable
Evolving requirements
By partnering with iLOQ, Norbain continues to expand its portfolio through the addition of innovative security technologies that meet the evolving needs of integrators, installers and end users right across the UK.
