Made in Britain hosts industry innovators at The Security Event 2023

MADE IN Britain is hosting a panel session at The Security Event 2023, the UK’s foremost commercial, enterprise and domestic security exhibition running from 25-27 April at the NEC in Birmingham, and for which Security Matters is serving as Lead Media Partner.

Taking place at 1.00 pm on Tuesday 25 April as part of the programme organised for the Security in Practice Conference (which is sponsored by Motorola), the 30-minute panel discussion runs under the headline ‘Capitalising on British Innovations in Security’ and turns attentions towards some of the latest innovations resident in the £6 billion British physical security industry.

This key session at conference is going to be moderated by Made in Britain CEO John Pearce and features insightful input courtesy of two speakers selected from Made in Britain’s community of members in the security industry, namely Ashley Smith (chief executive at Tensor plc) and Jon Trott, the managing director of Cova Security Gates.

Innovation and expertise

Tristan Norman, director at the Nineteen Group responsible for the Safety and Security Series, commented: “We are thrilled to have Made in Britain involved in this year’s edition of The Security Event. Championing the innovation, expertise and export potential of the British security industry is absolutely core to the ethos of the exhibition. I have no doubt that this panel discussion will inspire and educate our audience.”

John Pearce responded: “It’s a pleasure to bring members of our thriving community of Made in Britain manufacturers to The Security Event for what is the first time. Both of our speakers are at the forefront of UK security industry innovation and have some fantastic insights to share.”

The 2023 iteration of The Security Event runs as the UK’s security sector enters a period of transformation, with Martyn’s Law soon coming into force to make public venues safer following the 2017 Manchester Arena bombing.

On that note, Jon Trott explained: “In the physical security space, we are having to adapt and innovate to ensure risk owners have the tools at their disposal to protect people in public settings. In short, settings in which we would not have been able to offer security solutions in days gone by. As such, I believe it’s an exciting time for the security sector wherein the UK will lead the way in protecting open spaces through temporary and permanent security solutions.”

In parallel, Ashley Smith observed: “Given its recognised position as a world-leading innovation hub, British manufacturing skill and creativity is very important for the UK. In fact, it’s key-critical for the UK’s economy that this vitality continues.”
