Insights: The SmartTask Blog for Security Matters (Part 6)

EVEN WHEN business is good, it’s still vitally important to keep looking ahead. Making sure that opportunities are in the pipeline is essential for maintaining and increasing revenues. However, searching for new revenue streams can be time-intensive and doesn’t always deliver the results you need as quickly as you might like. Paul Ridden searches for an answer to that issue.

Your business development person may wear many hats – sales, marketing, new tenders and customer service, for example. All are equally important. Where, though, should they focus in order to derive the optimum results?

Value-added services

Looking at existing customers is a great way in which to identify possible opportunities where you can increase revenue with additional value-added services. Here, the right business technology can help.

Your Service Level Agreements and successful contract renewals show where you are delivering excellent services with high levels of customer satisfaction. These are the ideal clients to approach with extra services that will enable their organisation to operate more efficiently.

Modular approach

Here at SmartTask, we have worked with many of our customers to help them identify such added value opportunities. Our modular applications include features that can help you to offer bespoke services, while we can also supply demo versions for this purpose.

Once additional services have been agreed, full use licences can then be provided as required.

Here are three examples of software that can help you pitch for more business.

Electronic Forms: information on the move

Electronic Forms provide an extremely powerful and versatile means of replacing paper-based business processes. Whether it’s vacant property or mobile patrol inspections, equipment audits or daily vehicle checks, almost any routine – or event-driven data capture activity – can be automated with workflow logic, GPS location/time/date, camera and signature capture.

As well as affording the supporting documentation to officers on-site via their mobile phones, SmartTask provides the reporting capabilities for you to demonstrate to customers that the contracted services have been delivered.

Daily Occurrence Log: recording made quick and easy

The SmartTask Daily Occurrence Log includes features like photos and voice-to-text, making it much more cost-efficient than distributing and archiving paper-based logs. Using a smart phone or tablet (or a PC in a site office) is easy for the officer, and pictures, notes and other documents can be attached to entries directly to create a complete record.

For customers with multiple sites, entries can be consolidated and sorted into categories (for example, high impact incidents, notable events or background information). Incidents can be escalated to a Control Room or management team with an automated alert.

Events management features

Whether you are providing services for a smaller event, or for one with a 10,000 or more capacity, SmartTask can help you manage staff for events on an effective basis. We have recently introduced new events-specific features which, when combined with existing tools, will make managing security staff for events even easier:

*Event Shift Broadcasting via WhatsApp: Alert workers to events, check availability, roster them and send shift details and reminders to staff

*Pay-as-You-Go Occasional Workers: You will only be invoiced for any shifts the staff member completes

*Event Sectors and Zones: You can associate parts of an event site with services and workers, providing better visibility, management and control

*Event-Based Roster View: Makes it easier to see all shifts on a given day, enabling fine-tuning to ensure your contractual obligations are covered.

These examples can help you offer your customers additional security services over and above the traditional security patrols or on-site officers, thereby increasing both your revenues and levels of customer satisfaction.
