SECURITY SOLUTIONS developer Gallagher Security has announced National Protective Security Authority (NPSA) compliance for the High Security Controller 7000, the most recent addition to the company’s award-winning controller product range.
Specifically, the High Security C7000 has been awarded Automatic Access Control Systems (AACS) and Cyber Assurance of Physical Security Systems (CAPSS) compliance by the NPSA.
Providing customers with the confidence that Gallagher Security will continue to meet the highest standards demanded by countries in the Five Eyes Alliance and ensure they’re meeting compliances with future-proofed confidence, the High Security C7000 incorporates all of the core functions of the award-winning C7000 Standard variant and expands cyber security capabilities in key areas to deliver enhanced reliability, resilience and redundancy.
With Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS)-approved micro and cyber security at its heart, the High Security Controller 7000 enforces security policy set in Command Centre and reports on local security events, with authenticated and encrypted communications to connected sensors, alarm terminals and readers.
Cyber security requirements
Jason Hunter, high security solutions manager for the UK and Ireland at Gallagher Security, affirms that the new controller has been designed not just for traditional high security sites, but also to meet the changing cyber security needs of today’s economy.
“We’re increasingly seeing an appetite from enterprise organisations who need solutions that are certified to be used on Critical National Infrastructure,” explained Hunter. “These are not necessarily for Government sites, but also commercial enterprises seeking to mitigate risk in order to ensure business continuity. These customers want devices designed with that extra level of security. They want to be ahead of emerging threats.”
Daniel McVeagh, Gallagher Security’s value stream lead for high security, believes the High Security C7000 speaks to the high degree of cyber assurance the new controller variant delivers.
“While the Controller 7000 Standard already has excellent cyber security functionality,” noted McVeagh, “the High Security C7000 goes a step further, with bolder Government and commercial applications firmly in mind. Specifically, this controller is tested and complies to many stringent Government cyber and physical security standard. It’s built with the latest FIPS 140-3 compliant components for advanced cryptographic security.”
Attacks on firmware
Providing end users with protection against attacks on firmware in the supply chain and a platform ready for the future, Gallagher Security’s C7000 product range features IP-based controllers that can manage all localised access control, intruder alarms, perimeter security, business automation and logic needs for a given organisation.
Able to operate independently from the Command Centre server, the C7000 product range ensures predefined responses to monitored events, site safety and continuity. It features a highly scalable system design, able to scale from single door systems through to global systems with up to 10,000 controllers per server.
