Command Centre v8.80 and Command Centre Web introduced by Gallagher

COMMAND CENTRE v8.80, the latest iteration of Gallagher Security’s own security management software, has been introduced in order to enable organisations to “make security easier, faster and more efficient”. Further, the new version of the software is supplied with Command Centre Web, itself described as “an invaluable tool” for managing sites anywhere with an Internet connection.

The release of Command Centre v8.80 brings to the fore features that allow for greater flexibility and efficiencies, including site plan enhancements, SIP integration and a new bulk configuration tool.

Command Centre v8.80 enables customers to easily navigate and visualise complex site plans. The site plan enhancements reduce the number of items that need to be visible on a constant basis, thereby affording the ability to easily answer intercom calls from within a site plan, not to mention the chance to rotate a given site plan for better situational awareness.

Further, Command Centre v8.80 delivers access to the aforementioned bulk configuration tool, which saves significant time and data entry procedures when setting up new sites or loading large amounts of hardware to an existing one.

For its part, the introduction of the SIP integration offers a simple and secure integration with third party applications, in turn providing customers with the flexibility to choose an intercom system that’s right for their business. This new feature allows an operator to talk to an intercom user via a Command Centre workstation machine without requiring additional intercom hardware, which is particularly beneficial in terms of both cost and ease of deployment.

Added security and flexibility

Meredith Palmer, chief product officer at Gallagher, explained: “Amid the ever-changing landscape of the past two years, Gallagher has remained committed to driving and supplying product innovation and development in line with customer demand. The latest features and enhancements within the v8.80 release provide organisations with added security, flexibility and reassurance that they’re protecting what matters most.”

Command Centre v8.80 is the second Command Centre software update for 2022 to ensure customers benefit from the latest technologies. Customers that already possess Gallagher Software Maintenance and Care Plan have access to every Command Centre release, ensuring that they can update their software at any time and take full advantage of all the new features.

“Command Centre Web will prove to be an invaluable tool for managing sites anywhere,” commented Andrew Scothern, chief systems architect at Gallagher. “Through interfacing with Gallagher Command Centre via the Gallagher API Gateway, it allows safe and secure access to Command Centre Web from anywhere there’s an Internet connection. As a result, it reduces costs and operational downtime by removing the need to maintain a full workstation on the operator’s computer.”

The first component introduced in Command Centre Web focuses on cardholder management and allows administrators to view cardholder history, see the activity of the cardholder, manage cards and credentials (excluding printing/encoding cards), manage cardholder access/assign access and take care of general personal data field management.

“We spent a lot of time thinking about the user experience,” observed Scothern. “This is already proving its worth with fantastic feedback about the ease of use from everyone who has tried the solution.”

User guide

To start using Command Centre Web, all that’s needed is to check the ‘Enable Command Centre Web’ on the Cloud FT item. No web servers or extra infrastructure is required for set-up.

Importantly, no sensitive data is ever held in Command Centre Web or associated cloud services. Data remains hosted on the customer’s own Command Centre server and by Command Centre Web through REST API via the API Gateway, which has no persistent storage. Any updates made in Command Centre Web will be sent through to the Command Centre server via the same channel.

In conclusion, Scothern informed Security Matters: “We’re excited for how Command Centre Web will evolve in the future and are already working on bringing forward new user-friendly features and enhancements, including the addition of cardholders, printing and encoding cards and managing PINs and user codes.”
