CNI Security Group London event set to tackle insider threat

BUILDING ON its highly regarded series of integrated high-security solutions events, the CNI Security Group has announced its latest gathering, which is focused on tackling one of the biggest risks facing critical infrastructure. ‘The Enemy Within: Mitigating the Insider Threat’ is designed for all Critical National Infrastructure stakeholders in the security business sector (including end users, consultants and system designers) and begins at 10.00 am on 25 February at London’s Guildhall.

The insider threat is often discussed as a technology problem or a failure of controls. In reality, it’s more complex than that, sitting as it does at the intersection of human behaviour, organisational culture and business pressure. As modern workplaces become more distributed, data more accessible and employee trust more essential, traditional approaches to combating the insider risk are becoming increasingly unsustainable.

‘The Enemy Within’ event invites security and risk stakeholders to step back and consider the insider threat through a broader and more strategic focus. Through expert-led seminars and real-world insight, delegates will gain a clearer understanding of what can be done now to better anticipate, manage and mitigate insider threats.

Rather than concentrating solely on available tools or detection technology, the event will be taking a deep dive to explore how insider risks emerge, why they are so difficult to address and what this reveals about the way in which organisations manage trust, accountability and data access.

Integrated security

The event also highlights the CNI Security Group’s commitment to fully integrated, secure and future-proofed end-to-end solutions, drawing on expertise from its technology members: barox, Hirsch, Nedap, ISM and Commend UK.

By addressing the insider threat as a systemic issue rather than a standalone problem, the CNI Security Group continues to champion the role of cyber assurance and resilience, backed by Government testing standards such as NPSA/CAPSS, as well as integration, visibility and joined-up security architectures for reducing organisational risk.

“I’m delighted to announce our next event, which is focused on a risk that now sits firmly at the forefront of the global security landscape,” explained Sara Fisher, barox International’s market development specialist and chair of the CNI Security Group.

Fisher continued: “We have an outstanding line-up of speakers, including representatives from Government agencies and end user organisations, who will be sharing their perspectives on the evolving nature of insider threats and the challenges they present. They will also offer real-world experience of how this complex and global issue can be addressed through a combination of effective strategies, integrated technology, people and processes.”

Q&A panel discussion

Lunch will be provided on the day and the event will end with a Q&A panel discussion. Guests should arrive via the Basinghall Street entrance to Guildhall from 10.00 am on the day.

A full agenda and speaker list, along with guest partner announcements, will be published in the lead-up to the event.

An evening drinks reception will be held at The Trading House, 89-91 Gresham St, City of London EC2V 5AY immediately following the event’s close.
