Chubb completes major security systems project for The Wine Society

SECURITY SOLUTIONS provider Chubb has recently completed a major integrated security installation for The Wine Society, a long-standing customer of 20-plus years. Founded back in 1874 and based in Stevenage, The Wine Society is the world’s oldest member-owned community of wine lovers.

Given its rich heritage of nearly 150 years, The Wine Society has understandably established trusted relationships with its buyers and growers and has successfully developed through time thanks to the support of its thousands of loyal members.

Chubb secured the contract for delivering an integrated security solution for The Wine Society’s new warehouse, which involved installing an intruder alarm system, CCTV and access control.

The impressive warehouse is 70 metres long and 23 metres high with over 6,000 m2 of floor space. That’s equivalent to the size of a Premier League football pitch. It has been specially designed using the very latest in temperature moderating technology and includes facilities for solar panels as well as electric charging stations.

Galaxy Dimension

The Galaxy Dimension intruder alarm system installed adds to the existing system fitted by Chubb in the previous warehouses and covers the shutters, offices and warehouse, while delivering full perimeter protection.

A separate CCTV system consists of 20 IP cameras, including external PTZs and fixed cameras on a 32-channel NVR.

In addition, a new access control system provides secure access management for employees, contractors and visitors alike.

The entire installation project took just over 12 months to complete.

Challenging procedure

Tony Walmsley, senior sales consultant at Chubb, explained: “We’ve completed numerous security installations for The Wine Society over the years, but this latest project is the one of which I’m most proud. That’s not to say it didn’t have its challenges. For instance, when the contractors decided to change the location of the control equipment, we had to think on our feet and adapt our own systems accordingly.”

Walmsley added: “We now look forward to supporting The Wine Society with its ongoing works and providing remote monitoring through our National Security Inspectorate-accredited Alarm Receiving Centre.”

Karen Coates, chief operating officer at The Wine Society, concluded: “We’ve been very happy with the seamless way in which Chubb has managed the installation process and the service and support the business continues to provide.”
