AUCSO unveils ‘Excellence Shared – Value Realised’ theme for Annual Conference

‘EXCELLENCE SHARED – Value Realised’ is the theme for the forthcoming Association of University Chief Security Officers (AUCSO) Annual Conference 2026, which is going to be the organisation’s 42nd gathering of this kind.

Registration is now open (available to AUCSO member institutions only) for conference, which will take place from Monday 13 April to Wednesday 15 April at the University of Exeter. The host will be Dan Nicoll, head of security (parking and transport) operations at the University of Exeter.

Up until 31 January, delegates can take advantage of the Early Bird Rate by visiting https://aucso2026.org/registration/

Conference brings together university security leaders, senior professionals and sector partners from across the globe to explore Best Practice, share expertise and examine how collaborative excellence delivers real-world value. The full programme of keynote speakers and workshops is currently being finalised and will be announced shortly.

Building on the success of previous years, the 2025 Annual Conference witnessed a record attendance of more than 200 delegates from Australia, the USA, Europe and South Africa alongside AUCSO members, invited guests and leading industry exhibitors and partners. Organisers expect the 2026 iteration to be equally well attended.

Exhibition and sponsors

Featuring once again will be a high-quality exhibition of products and services, with both returning and new suppliers supporting the event. Organisations interested in exhibiting are encouraged to secure their place early as stand space is going to be limited. Information on becoming a Platinum Sponsor or a Gold Sponsor can be found online at www.aucso.org

Delegates will be able to engage with exhibitors throughout conference, including during the keynote sessions, workshops and networking opportunities.

Conference will open on the Monday evening a reception in The Sanctuary at the University of Exeter, affording an opportunity to reconnect with colleagues and meet suppliers and partners.

On the Tuesday evening, delegates will attend a networking dinner at the University of Exeter, accompanied by informal entertainment and games.

The highlight of the week will be the black-tie gala dinner and AUCSO Awards, which take place on the Wednesday evening in the Great Hall at the University of Exeter. The event will celebrate excellence across the sector, with the 2026 AUCSO Awards winners announced on the night.

Sharing insight

Commenting on the 2026 Annual Conference, Julie Barker (chief operating officer of AUCSO) said: “We’ll be delighted to welcome members, visitors and valued supply partners to our 42nd Annual Conference. It’s a fantastic opportunity to reconnect, build new relationships and share insight.”

Barker continued: “This year’s theme of ‘Excellence Shared – Value Realised’ will shape a carefully curated programme. We encourage members to register early in order to secure their place at what promises to be a highly engaging and thought-provoking event.”

Further, Barker noted: “We are also inviting businesses and charities to exhibit at conference where they can showcase products and services to a focused audience of university and security professionals.”

In addition, Barker observed: “A particular highlight will be the gala dinner and AUCSO Awards when we will recognise the outstanding achievements of security teams during 2025. It’s sure to be an inspiring evening full of celebration, networking and recognition.”

Finally, Barker said: “Do take advantage of our Early Bird Discount, which is available until 31 January, and register now to ensure your place at what promises to be a thought-provoking and hugely engaging event.”
