AUCSO signposts date and venue for Annual Conference 2023

THE HERIOT-Watt University Conference Centre in Edinburgh has been announced as the venue for the 37th Association of University Chief Security Officers (AUCSO) Conference. Conference will run from Tuesday 18 April until Thursday 20 April and is open to AUCSO members and member institutions.

In 2022, the AUCSO Annual Conference witnessed a record attendance of over 230 delegates (including AUCSO members and their guests) and attracted 45 industry exhibitors (the largest exhibition to date, in fact).

This year, new suppliers and AUSCO partners will be supporting conference with a compelling exhibition of products and services. Suppliers and AUSCO partners are encouraged to sign up early if they would like to exhibit at conference. For their part, delegates will be able to visit the exhibition in-between workshops and presentations.

On that note, the conference programme of impressive keynote speakers is currently being finalised and will be announced shortly. Alongside the speaker presentations, there will also be opportunities for delegates to join breakout sessions focused on various key topic. All of this will be complemented by networking opportunities for all.

There will be a Welcome Reception event and exhibitors fair on the Tuesday evening in the Conference Centre itself, while a networking evening is planned for Wednesday. The latter is to be held at Edinburgh Castle. Hundreds of years old, Edinburgh Castle forms part of what is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and still has soldiers from the British Army garrisoned there.

A black-tie Gala Dinner and AUCSO Awards Evening is set to take place on the Thursday evening at The Signet Library located on Edinburgh’s historic Royal Mile. The Signet Library dates back to 1822. Home to the Society of Writers to His Majesty’s Signet, this location holds the reference library for the Scottish legal system. The winners of the 2023 AUCSO Awards will be announced at the Gala Dinner.

Celebrating achievements

Commenting on the AUCSO Annual Conference 2023, the organisation’s chief operating officer Julie Barker observed: “We are very much looking forward to our 37th Annual Conference. It will be great to see existing colleagues and friends and meet new ones, too.”

Barker continued: “We particularly look forward to the Gala Dinner and Awards Evening when we will announce the winners of the 2023 AUCSO Awards. It will be wonderful to see delegates, business partners, shortlisted colleagues and special guests join forces to celebrate the amazing work security teams have achieved within their institutions during 2022.”

Further, Barker noted: “We are keen to hear from businesses and charities who would be interested in exhibiting at the 2023 Annual Conference as it’s a great way in which to promote products or services to a targeted audience of university security specialists. We’re pleased to offer an early bird discount for the Annual Conference, which is available until the end of the month. Without doubt, it promises to be a highly thought-provoking and fascinating event.”
