AMULET HAS been awarded a significant new security contract with Govia Thameslink Railway. The contract is for three years, with the option of two more, and will see Amulet deliver comprehensive security guarding and technology services across stations, depots and seasonal operations.
Amulet will provide 24/7 security guarding operations at ten stations and five depots across the Govia Thameslink Railway network, supported by a dedicated team of 30 station-based officers and 22 depot security professionals. This supplements Govia Thameslink Railway’s other security arrangements that include teams of travel safe officers and rail enforcement officers who work to support the British Transport Police.
Services will include Front-of-House operations at the office Go Ahead House, advanced mobile CCTV solutions and the integration of cutting-edge technology to enhance security and enable real-time monitoring.
A key part of the contract is Operation OLAF, the rail industry’s annual Christmas stabling programme. During this period, when trains are parked out of service between 24 and 27 December, Amulet will deploy specialist teams at 21 stabling locations nationwide. These teams, comprising over 100 security professionals, will deliver 24/7 protection to prevent vandalism and ensure the safety and integrity of trains while they are stabled.
Competitive tender
Amulet was selected following a competitive tender process. The company’s submission stood out for its detailed mobilisation planning, advanced performance management systems and the commitment to continuous improvement, including lessons learned reviews designed to further enhance service delivery.
The company’s innovative technology approach – combining mobile CCTV, Command and Control systems and real-time monitoring – was also praised for exceeding requirements and offering Govia Thameslink Railway a robust and future-ready security solution.
Kieran Mackie, managing director of Amulet, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to deepen our relationship with the rail sector and deliver security services that put passenger and staff safety first. We’re proud to share Govia Thameslink Railway’s commitment to high standards, innovation and community impact. We look forward to working closely together to deliver a safe and welcoming environment across the network.”
Clear understanding
Mike Boyce, head of security and policing at Govia Thameslink Railway, said: “We were impressed with Amulet’s clear understanding of our operational requirements, which supplement our many other security measures and the work of the British Transport Police. The quality of the mobilisation planning also stood out.”
Boyce added: “Amulet’s approach demonstrates strong attention to resilience, staff training and the innovative use of technology, all of which are crucial in delivering a consistent and high-quality service across our network. We look forward to working in partnership to enhance safety and security for our passengers and colleagues alike.”
