VPS Group acquires Davis Site Security in bid to accelerate growth

VPS GROUP, the temporary security systems specialist, has acquired Davis Site Security, the fast-growing security company protecting blue chip customers’ construction sites with monitored video technology and security guarding.

The construction industry loses upwards of £800 million per annum due to plant theft, acts of vandalism, water loss and fire. Given the sheer number of new houses and commercial buildings being constructed in the UK, being able to protect expensive assets such as machinery and materials during the build phase is crucial.

With its keen focus on comprehensive and technology-enabled solutions for construction sites, it’s felt that Davis Site Security will prove to b a perfect fit for the VPS Group and its existing products and services.

Based on over 30 years of experience in the temporary security market, VPS Group has gradually evolved into a fully integrated security solutions specialist, delivering tailored risk mitigation for customers across Europe through a combination of monitored technology, human intervention and physical protection solutions.

Shift in the business model

Founded back in 2002, Davis Site Security provides temporary and permanent security systems nationally, primarily focusing on the construction industry and serving housebuilders, commercial buildings and vacant properties.

The company manages around 300 sites nationwide and has witnessed a significant shift in its business model in the past three years towards monitored video technology-based security solutions.

Commenting on the acquisition, Paul Lewis (CEO for the UK and Ireland at the VPS Group) commented: “I’m delighted that Davis Site Security has joined the VPS Group. The strength of its knowledge in the UK construction industry, coupled with our layered approach for temporary security solutions, means that we can accelerate both our company and customer growth objectives, while also providing first-class risk mitigation and business continuity for the construction industry.”

During the acquisition process, Davis Site Security (itself a family-owned company) was looking for a partner that puts its people and customers at the heart of its business strategy, while having the passion for technology-based products.

Nick Southern, Davis Site Security’s managing director, commented: “This is a positive partnership for the future growth and success of the business. Throughout the process, it was clear that there’s a great fit between the two companies and a mutual desire to succeed with a customer-first approach, coupled with using the latest technology to protect construction site assets on a temporary basis. We’re excited to be part of the VPS Group.”

Advisors for the acquisition

Across recent years, the VPS Group has produced continued growth, pursuing a strategy of solution-led and client-focused development in partnership with customers to support their security needs.

Acquisitions of leading players like Davis Site Security and Durus Security (the French site security company) are a key part of the VPS Group’s growth strategy. The VPS Group is continuing to actively consider other accretive M&A opportunities.
