SmartLink 700 update from HKC Security enhances installer experience

HKC SECURITY has announced a major update to its SmartLink 700 installer control panel configuration software, which is designed to improve accessibility and efficiency. The latest enhancements introduce RF signal and quality information, making it easier to assess device connectivity without the need for keypad checks.

SmartLink 700 is HKC’s advanced control panel configuration software that affords installers remote access to HKC security systems. It provides a powerful interface for configuring, monitoring and maintaining security panels, thereby making sure that installations are efficient and systems remain reliable.

Signal levels are now displayed for all RF devices, helping installers to determine if signal and quality levels are suitable and if RF Expansion may be necessary. A new RF Device Summary screen has been added under the Devices menu, offering a clear overview of signal and quality levels across all connected RF devices.

Installers will receive colour-coded guidance: green for a good signal, amber for fair and red for devices in low signal areas. A new Help section has been added to provide guidance on interpreting signal and quality readings.

Signal and quality data is also available at both the individual device level and within the Panel Configuration menu, in turn making diagnostics and troubleshooting more streamlined.

Firmware upgrades

Firmware upgrades prompts have also been improved, with signal level checks now included in the upgrade prompt. Again, installers will receive colour-coded guidance: green for safe upgrades, amber for caution and red advising against an upgrade without improving signal strength in the first instance.

The update includes support for upcoming HKC devices, ensuring compatibility with next generation security solutions. Various other bug fixes have been implemented to enhance system stability and performance.
