Security business MS Webb opens new headquarters in Kent

DEDICATED SECURITY business MS Webb has celebrated a major milestone in the company’s growth with the opening of its new headquarters in Kent. In parallel, the organisation has achieved a prestigious industry accreditation and welcomed public safety campaigner Figen Murray OBE as a special guest.

On 5 October, MS Webb brought together employees, clients and senior industry figures for the official opening of the headquarters: a development that recognises the company’s commitment to professional standards, public safety and continued investment in people and operations.

The event featured the presentation of MS Webb’s newly achieved National Security Inspectorate (NSI) NACOSS Gold award and its British Security Industry Association (BSIA) Corporate Membership certificate.

Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025

Guests heard from Figen Murray OBE, whose campaign (launched following the death of her son, Martyn Hett, in the Manchester Arena terror attack of May 2017) contributed to the introduction of Martyn’s Law. The Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025 is designed to improve security and preparedness at qualifying public premises and events.

With Martyn’s Law expected to come into full force early next year, Murray shared the story behind her campaign, the progress of the legislation and its implications for the security industry. Her appearance ended with a Q&A session hosted by Rob Smith, former presenter on BBC South East Today.

Speaking about her campaign, Murray said: “I began the campaign for Martyn’s Law not knowing where the journey would take me or the industry. I started by asking why basic measures were not in place, which has now grown into a wider conversation about how the public can be better protected and the role security plays in achieving that end goal.”

Mrray added: “The campaign has shown me that professional standards, a passion for the industry and a strong sense of responsibility are important. It has been particularly meaningful for me to collaborate with an organisation in the form of MS Webb that represents those qualities and takes its role in keeping people and property safe very seriously indeed.”

Significant step forward

The new accreditation marks another significant step forward for MS Webb. NSI NACOSS Gold recognises independently assessed standards in electronic security systems and, combined with the BSIA Corporate Membership, these achievements demonstrate MS Webb’s continued focus on maintaining recognised professional standards across its myriad services.

David Ward, CEO at MS Webb, informed Security Matters: “Our clients put a lot of trust in us to keep their spaces safe and crime-free. This isn’t something we take lightly. At MS Webb, we feel strongly about demonstrating our credibility. It’s vitally important that we constantly improve and hold ourselves to high standards. As such,  our latest achievements mean a lot to us and demonstrate exactly that.”

Founded almost three decades ago by Malcolm Webb and now run by his sons Joe and Greg, MS Webb has undergone rapid growth in recent years. The business has expanded from two employees in 2021 to its current team of 41, with the new headquarters providing much-needed space and facilities, notably so in terms of the additional job opportunities in the pipeline.

Designed to support both day-to-day operations and employee well-being, the headquarters includes a large Boardroom, additional meeting rooms, staff breakout areas and flexible collaboration zones. Fitness facilities, outdoor areas and abundant natural light contribute towards an environment purpose-designed to support the growing team.

Growing the team

Greg Webb, co-owner and business director at MS Webb, explained: “Our father started MS Webb from his garage. My brother and myself have grown up alongside the business, so we feel passionately about continuing its success and helping it to reach its full potential.”

Webb continued: “The next 12-to-24 months feel particularly exciting for MS Webb as we look to recruit even more talented individuals before the end of this year, notably security dog handlers as demand for this service continues to grow. We anticipate growing the team by an extra nine people over the coming months. We’re keen to employ individuals who have a focus on providing a quality service, helping us to maintain the high standards we’ve set for ourselves and that clients have come to expect of us.”
