NINETEEN GROUP, the organiser of International Cyber Expo 2023 (for which Security Matters is serving as a Media Partner), has announced the programme for the event’s annual Global Cyber Summit, which is sponsored by Infoblox, OpenText and Sonatype. International Cyber Expo and the Global Cyber Summit run at London’s Olympia on 26 and 27 September.
The Summit will be opened by Professor Ciaran Martin CB, chair of International Cyber Expo’s Advisory Council, and brings together several of the industry’s greatest minds to review ongoing cyber threats, priorities and challenges. This year, advisors closely associated with Ukrainian Government agencies have been invited to present their invaluable insight into the reality and impact of Russian cyber attacks as the conflict continues.
Special guest speakers include Oksana Kharchenko (a member of YouControl, the Ukrainian team of developers creating services for business analysis) who will delve into the challenges of managing sanctions risk in the current geopolitical setting.
Andrew Hural, director of UnderDefense (a prominent cyber security company offering pro bono services to Ukrainian Government entities) is set to reflect on the last 500 days of Russian cyber operations, determining the successes and failures of attempts at espionage.
Agenda highlights
Other globally pertinent subjects will be discussed by world-renowned experts. For example, Nicola Whiting MBE (co-owner of Titania Group) will reveal why diversity and inclusion efforts might be stalling and provides a new framework for times ahead.
Theresa Deumchen, tech policy associate at Global Counsel, is scheduled to examine the regulatory landscape concerning generative Artificial Intelligence.
Alexsander Gorkowienko, SecurityLabs senior managing consultant at Spirent Communications, will explain how European Union security regulations, such as the NIS 2 Directive, might affect businesses across the region.
Jake Moore, the global cyber security advisor at ESET, is going to shed some light on how criminals manipulate recruitment staff, land a job inside a company and gain full access to the host organisation’s data.
Stewart Bertram, head of cyber threat intelligence for Elemendar, plans to use a mix of Case Studies and theory to expose the crossover between misinformation and cyber threat operations.
Rashik Parmar, Group CEO of BCS (The Chartered Institute for IT) and Dr Saritha Arunkumar, technical leader for public cloud security at IBM, are joining forces in a panel discussion to address the question: ‘What does the rise of Artificial Intelligence and quantum computing mean for the future of cyber security?’
Further, Charlotte Hooper (helpline manager at The Cyber Helpline) highlights the impact of cyber crime on individuals and what can be done to support them.
Scheduled talks
Attendees of the International Cyber Expo/Global Cyber Summit can also take advantage of scheduled talks at the co-located International Security Expo (for which Security Matters is also serving as a Media Partner).
In fact, Joel Aleburu at Microsoft will be speaking about the role of cyber espionage in terrorist activities on the first day of the International Security Expo, while on the second day Joe Wrieden (intelligence analyst at Cyjax) determines to assess the key role of Advanced Persistent Threats in serious and organised crime.
“Once again, it has been an absolute delight and an honour to curate the agenda for the International Cyber Expo’s Global Cyber Summit,” enthused Philip Ingram MBE, the former senior British military intelligence officer and content lead for International Cyber Expo. “We received a substantial influx of speaker submissions, far surpassing that of last year, which only goes to prove the event’s success since its launch in 2022.”
Ingram continued: “We have a phenomenal schedule of speakers lined up to tackle a number of salient and timely subjects. Equally important, and what makes the Global Cyber Summit a ‘one-of-a-kind’ proposition, is the opportunity for audience members to explore the overlapping nature of these issues in the cyber and physical worlds given that the International Security Expo is running in tandem.”
All sessions at the Global Cyber Summit are certified for Continuing Professional Development.
