Mitie’s Total Facilities Compliance service addresses regulatory pressures

NEW RESEARCH conducted by Opinium on behalf of Mitie highlights that more than one-fifth (21%, in fact) of organisations are not fully prepared for imminent regulatory requirements. That being so, Mitie is launching its Total Facilities Compliance service to help organisations navigate what’s now an increasingly complex and evolving regulatory landscape.

As estates grow in terms of both scale and complexity, and regulatory expectations continue to evolve in parallel, organisations are increasingly managing compliance across multiple suppliers, systems and teams, thereby making it harder to maintain a clear and consistent view across operations.

In order to support customers in navigating the challenges involved, Mitie’s new Total Facilities Compliance service brings together expertise across security, fire safety, engineering compliance, electrical testing and certification, building safety, air quality, asbestos and environmental compliance within a single, integrated and technology-enabled model.

Built on enhanced security, fire safety, environmental and water management capabilities following the acquisition of Marlowe, Mitie will deliver joined-up compliance at scale, covering everything from security, fire safety and electrical testing through to water hygiene, air quality and asbestos management.

By virtue of combining accredited specialists, advanced technology and deep expertise, Mitie can support organisations in simplifying compliance and meeting regulatory requirements in a more consistent and co-ordinated manner.

Bringing industry leaders together

To mark the launch, Mitie convened senior leaders from across the UK’s built environment at its inaugural Future of Facilities Compliance event, which ran at Woburn Center Parcs in Bedford on 1 July.

The event brought together upwards of 100 leaders across sectors including healthcare, transport and infrastructure to explore how organisations can take a more integrated and forward-looking approach towards facilities compliance.

Speakers included Martin Watson (chair of the British Security Industry Association), Verity Mitchell (water analyst at The UK Water Report), Lyvia Nabarro (head of market engagement at MOSL), Adam Johnson (CEO of Water Direct) and Dame Judith Hackitt DBE, former chair of the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) who led the Independent Review of Building Regulations and Fire Safety following the Grenfell Tower tragedy.

On the day, the speakers explored evolving regulatory frameworks, increasing compliance pressures and what this means for organisations managing complex estates.

Keeping businesses running

Jason Towse, managing director of the Business Services division at Mitie, explained: “When compliance fails, business stops. That’s a risk organisations cannot afford to take. It’s not just about meeting requirements. It’s also about keeping businesses running and navigating what’s now an increasingly complex regulatory environment.”

Towse added: “Our Total Facilities Compliance service helps organisations to move away from fragmented approaches, bringing together expertise, data and delivery to provide greater visibility and continuity across complex estates.”
