Mitie maintains hold on baggage security at London Stansted Airport

Mitie has been providing round-the-clock hold baggage screening services at London Stansted Airport since 2018. Once passengers check-in their luggage, bags travel through the airport’s hold baggage screening system where advanced screening technology checks for items that could pose a security risk.

Where further checks are needed, Mitie’s highly-trained and Security Industry Authority-licensed aviation security officers use their expertise to assess prohibited items before bags are cleared for loading to the aircraft.

As part of the contract, Mitie uses data-driven operational heat maps to identify the busiest times for hold baggage screening. This helps in planning for staffing levels and keeping all screening operations running smoothly.

The contract extension further strengthens Mitie’s relationship with the Manchester Airports Group. Alongside its hold baggage screening contract at London Stansted Airport, Mitie also delivers cleaning and technical services at Manchester Airport and East Midlands Airport.

Outstanding work
