ITN PRODUCTIONS Industry News is producing ‘Safer Cyber Spaces’, a news-style programme that raises awareness and understanding of cyber security and the risk of cyber attacks as the world becomes more dependent on technology.
The Information Age has brought economic and social progress to many parts of the world and proven to be a powerful tool for connectivity, freedom and innovation. The rise and evolution of sophisticated Internet-based technologies has accelerated the way in which organisations and individuals share information. As our dependence on technology increases, though, so have the ‘windows of opportunity’ for those intent on compromising systems and data.
With more and more of us working remotely as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic, ‘Safer Cyber Spaces’ will raise awareness of the most current cyber threats faced in the UK and the ongoing response and solutions to these dangers. The bespoke programme will highlight the vital work being transacted in response to ongoing threats to ensure the safety and security of cyber space in what’s now a rapidly expanding digital economy.
Anchored by an ITN Productions Industry News presenter, ‘Safer Cyber Spaces’ will include informative news items, interviews with industry influencers and sponsored editorial profiles.
The programme is due to launch at International Cyber Expo, which runs on 28-29 September 2021 at London’s Olympia. A special programme preview will also be showcased at the National Cyber Security Show on 7-9 September 2021 at the NEC in Birmingham. Both shows are organized and hosted by the Nineteen Group.
Collaboration with UKCSA
Collaboration with the UK Cyber Security Association (UKCSA) will emphasise the impact of the Coronavirus pandemic and cutting-edge and innovative cyber security technology. The news-style programme will highlight the role of women in cyber space security and feature interviews with the prominent figures in the industry, all of them ready to inspire the next generation of female cyber/tech entrepreneurs and thought leaders, not to mention the next generation of sector professionals as a whole.
‘Safer Cyber Spaces’ is also scheduled to include a news report led by an ITN Productions Industry News reporter that will focus on the skills needed and roles available in the cyber security sector, with input from those professionals who are already making an active difference.
Lisa Ventura, CEO of the UKCSA, informed Security Matters: “We’re delighted to be partnering with ITN Productions to produce ‘Safer Cyber Spaces’ and raise awareness of the growing cyber threat among small businesses, SMEs and the general public. Cyber security has never been more important since the COVID-19 pandemic forced organisations to make the move to working from home, leaving them wide open to potential cyber attacks. It’s vital to educate the business community and the general public about the growing cyber threat and what they can to do help themselves stay safe online.”
Tristan Norman, exhibitions director at the Nineteen Group, responded: “All of us here at the Nineteen Group are absolutely thrilled to be partnering with ITN Productions and the UKCSA to produce ‘Safer Cyber Spaces’. The COVID-19 pandemic and the seismic change to global working practices has accelerated the impact cyber security threats can exert on our day-to-day lives. This huge impact for both businesses and individuals has led to us launching two events in this area with the specific aim of educating and strengthening and UK SMEs and global enterprise businesses alike.”
Norman added: “Here in the UK, we’re fortunate to have great expertise and much innovation in the cyber security space. Fantastic work is being done by GCHQ and the National Cyber Security Centre. Now we have an opportunity to showcase thought leadership, British cyber security solution suppliers’ capabilities and Best Practice to a wider audience.”
Broader public understanding
Nina Harrison-Bell, head of ITN Productions Industry News, concluded: “We’re very much looking forward to working with the UKCSA and the Nineteen Group to produce a programme that will create a broader public understanding of the variety of online and cyber space threats faced in the UK on a daily basis. We very much hope that the programme provides a platform to share knowledge and learnings with the cyber security community and shines a light on the great work being done to keep the UK safe in the online domain.”
The UKCSA is a new membership organisation for individuals, small businesses, SMEs and corporate companies either involved in or who work in the cyber security industry in the UK. Members receive a wide range of benefits including access to the latest cyber security industry news, discounts on courses, seminars, networking events, conferences and items such as insurance and penetration testing, as well as access to a directory of members.
The UKCSA also supplies compliance, security consultancy, risk management, penetration testing, bespoke security solutions and half-day and one-day courses to small businesses and SMEs, all aimed at helping them to understand cyber security and what it means for their businesses.

International Cyber Expo is the first dedicated event to bridge the gap between the physical and cyber security industries on a global scale. It features a large exhibition area that focuses on technology and services designed to protect business; digital and physical future.
For its part, the National Cyber Security Show unites the UK’s approach to tackle cyber threats and protect the digital world. It will be the first event in the field dedicated to promoting and educating UK businesses with a focus on SMEs and aims to promote the core ‘cyber essentials’ (including cyber management, security, protection and recovery).
