HANWHA TECHWIN Europe, the supplier of “robust and reliable” video surveillance products, has announced the release of two new Artificial Intelligence (AI)-powered, dual-channel, multi-sensor cameras: the PNM-C12083RVD and the PNM-C7083RVD. These AI cameras are designed to monitor two different areas with two different fields of view, making them ideal for monitoring staircases or lifts, looking around corners and securing two adjacent areas (such as check-in desks at airports).
The two-in-one cameras feature “highly accurate” deep learning-based object detection and classification, while delivering a lower total cost of ownership when compared to installing two equivalent cameras. Not only do they offer the advantage of lower hardware costs, but they’re also faster to install, use one cable and, in most cases, require only a single VMS licence.
The PNM-C12083RVD model comes with two 6 MP cameras operating at 15 fps, while the PNM-C7083RVD boasts two 2 MP cameras for a 30 fps delivery. Both are supplied as standard with an infrared viewable length of 25 metres, are National Defence Authorisation Act compliant and feature “next level cyber security” with TPM 2.0. The cameras are also FIPS 140-2 certified.
AI-based object detection reduces the occurrence of false alarms, providing surveillance operators with a reliable source of events, while accurate object classification improves operational efficiency by making forensic search a highly efficient procedure. The cameras can identify human faces as well as particular vehicles and also recognise number plates, while ignoring irrelevant motion such as wind-blown trees, shadows, stray objects or animals that happen to be moving within the field of view.
Reviewing events
For post-event analysis, the dual-channel cameras use ‘BestShot’ technology to support operators in quickly seeing the best image of an event occurring. Camera-generated metadata (of the person, face, vehicle and/or licence plate in view) is embedded in the video and delivered back to the Control Room such that a compatible VMS can carry out a highly efficient forensic search.
AI also enhances the image quality of video delivered to operators. WiseNR II noise reduction uses AI to identify object movement and reduce blur in noisy, low-light environments. AI-based Preferred Shutter technology automatically adjusts shutter speed based on classified objects in motion and the lighting conditions so as to reduce motion blur and deliver the clearest images possible.
For its part, WiseStream III dynamically controls encoding so that when a classified object is detected, the compression rate on the area is minimised to improve image quality, while the rest of the scene is compressed at a higher rate. When combined with H.265 compression, the bandwidth efficiency can be improved by up to 75% when compared to current H.264 technology.
Product design
Hanwha Techwin's reputation for excellent product design has been reflected in the aesthetics and durability of the cameras. The PNM-C12083RVD and PNM-C7083RVD are robust and hard-wearing in any weather with IP66, IK10 and NEMA4X certifications.
They also feature a metal-shielded RJ-45 to protect the cameras from transient voltage, a hard-coated dome bubble for better resistance to scratching and a GORE vent designed to prevent condensation and maintain performance.
Further, installation has been made easy with CVBS video output and a Wi-Fi dongle (optional) for viewing and adjusting the cameras from a smartphone.
