CYBER SECURITY business Bridewell has appointed Ray Stanton, a highly experienced security expert and business leader, in the role of advisor to the Board of Directors. Stanton’s new role will support the company’s growth strategy within the Critical National Infrastructure (CNI) space and assist in building new customer and partner relationships.
Taking up the role with immediate effect, Stanton will draw on 30-plus years’ experience in cyber security, risk management and the commercial world gained by operating in the UK, the US and the Nordics and for the most part at Board level. A former CISO and CSO, Stanton’s career to date encompasses senior positions at BT, the National Grid, IBM, the TDC Group and Airbus UK.
That CV has afforded Stanton a unique insight into the fast-evolving arena of CNI security with special expertise engendered in the energy/utilities, telecommunications and aviation sectors.
Stanton was instrumental in setting up global programmes on cyber resilience for the World Economic Forum and sat on the Advisory Board for the Information Security Forum. He harbours extensive experience of supply chain security and has also been part of Boards of Directors in the marketing sector and the commercial services sector.
At Bridewell, Stanton’s immediate priorities include driving further engagement and traction across critical infrastructure security services in the UK and the US, as well as supporting the establishment of a new Customer Advisory Board to gather customer feedback and help guide the development of new service offers based around key customer requirements.
Growth strategy
Commenting on his new role at Bridewell, Stanton affirmed: “I’m looking forward to the challenges ahead and using the experience and knowledge to help take the company forward. We want to build on the CNI growth strategy in the UK and the US.”
Stanton continued: “I’ve been on both sides of the cyber security business landscape – as a supplier and an end user – which has given me valuable insights into the cyber security market and how it’s likely to develop. A vital element of our strategy must be to listen to our customers.”
Further, Stanton noted: “I’ve known Bridewell since its inception and have always admired what Anthony and Scott have achieved. I love the ethos and culture of the company as well as its ambition. This new working relationship is a natural fit for us and for myself.”
Anthony Young, CEO of Bridewell, responded: “I have known Ray for over 15 years now. He has been a great friend and mentor and I have a huge respect for what he has achieved in terms of building high-performing security teams, establishing businesses internationally and developing his reputation right across the industry.”
Young added: “I’m looking forward to working more closely with Ray as he helps us to implement our strategy, serving the needs of existing customers and expanding our client base. Ray combines extensive knowledge of cyber security in the CNI environment with genuine commercial acumen and business intuition. I know his contribution as an advisor to the Board will be invaluable.”
