ABUS IS actively changing the way in which locksmith businesses manage master key systems with its Online Ordering System (designated OBS) as end users report faster turnaround times, fewer delays and reduced pressure on office-based support teams.
Designed to give approved locksmiths direct access to master key system information, OBS allows users to manage suites, process extensions, review pinning technical details, access cylinder and key records and track orders through a single online platform.
For locksmith businesses handling regular master key work, the system removes the need to wait for routine information requests to be processed. Locksmiths can access the details they need when they need them and use the X-Press system for selected solutions, helping jobs progress more efficiently, while continuing to benefit from specialist support from the ABUS technical team.
Streamlined workflows
Alec McQuay, director at Jeb Supplies, commented: “OBS is a game-changer. Being able to quickly access master key system information online has streamlined our workflows in the workshop and on-site. Our engineers can download what they need and take it with them. That’s still true even when they don’t have reliable Internet access. With OBS handling that and the technical team available for specialist support, ABUS has become a vital partner in all of our security projects.”
The platform supports additional cylinder requirements, replacement keys, suite extensions and ongoing maintenance work. With access to live system information, engineers working remotely or outside normal office hours can progress jobs without waiting for next day support.
This improves overall workflow for locksmiths and reduces risk with data checks in place, while also reducing routine enquiries to customer service and technical teams, thereby allowing internal resources to focus on more complex projects and customer requirements.
Access to documentation
OBS also provides access to documentation linked to master key systems, including pinning lists, cutting lists, cylinder schedules and order records, helping to simplify the ongoing management of suites and system changes.
Colston Hendy, technical sales manager at ABUS, commented: “OBS is the first of its kind to give locksmiths greater visibility and control when managing master key systems. What we’re seeing is businesses using the platform as part of their normal workflow, whether managing suite extensions, accessing pinning information or processing additional cylinders and keys.”
Hendy added: “OBS is helping to simplify the administrative side of master key management, while giving locksmiths quicker access to the information they need to support customers more efficiently.”
