ABM wins five-year security and facilities contract at Ashford International

ABM – THE integrated facility services business – has secured a significant contract win with HS1 Ltd, the organisation responsible for owning and operating High Speed 1 (HS1), the UK’s only high-speed railway. Under this new agreement, ABM’s expert team will deliver an extensive range of services, including security, cleaning, M&E and HVAC at Ashford International Station.

HS1 is, of course, a critical 109-kilometre rail line that connects St Pancras International in London to the Channel Tunnel, enabling high-speed international travel between London and Paris, Brussels and Amsterdam, as well as domestic routes from London to Kent. The network encompasses key stations along its route, among them Stratford International and Ebbsfleet International.

HS1 Ltd’s decision to award ABM this prestigious contract speaks to the company’s expertise in the transport sector and its diverse solutions offer. Given the company’s track record of delivering high-quality services in this arena by working with the likes of Transport for London, and having garnered a deep understanding of the transport sector’s unique requirements, the HS1 contract further solidifies ABM’s reputation in this space.

Bobby Thomson-O’Connor, divisional director at ABM, said: “We’re delighted to have been awarded the contract to deliver comprehensive facility services at Ashford International Station. ABM has consistently demonstrated its commitment to creating safer, cleaner, healthier and more sustainable environments across various sectors. This opportunity aligns perfectly with our mission. We now look forward to partnering with HS1 Ltd and ensuring the highest standards of service delivery for this iconic high-speed rail line.”

Integrated facility services

Jay Newton, head of stations engineering and operations at HS1 Ltd, responded: “We are very pleased to award ABM the contract to maintain and deliver facility services at Ashford International Station. ABM is a leader in the field of integrated facility services. Alongside core maintenance obligations, the business will ensure that Ashford International is fully prepared and ready to welcome passengers on Eurostar services.”

ABM’s contract with HS1 Ltd is set to span a five-year period, during which the former will deploy its expertise through dedicated teams to ensure Ashford International Station remains a secure, efficient and pristine facility for passengers and visitors alike.
