WJ SUNSTONE has rebranded its range of solar-powered surveillance, detection and off-grid power solutions in a determined bid to create a “clearer and more consistent” range of systems. The rebrand is designed to make it easier for those contractors who are new to the company’s solutions to understand the available technologies and how they can support security applications where fixed infrastructure isn’t always possible.
Although the names and branding have changed, the solutions continue to deliver the trusted and high-quality performance for which WJ Sunstone is renowned. The refreshed portfolio strengthens the WJ Sunstone brand and affords customers a simpler way in which to navigate the range, understand the benefits of each solution and identify the right technology for their specific requirements.
The company’s upgraded portfolio includes a range of solar-powered surveillance solutions that can be integrated with technologies including surveillance cameras, radar and Automatic Number Plate Recognition devices. The range includes Detect (previously known as ARC) as well as Detect-R (previously Raft) and Detect-S (previously known as SICS).
These solutions are designed to support a range of security applications including general site surveillance and perimeter monitoring, among them projects where security requirements or site layouts change over time.
Rapid installation
The systems are purpose-designed for rapid installation, able to operate without hardwired power or data connections and can be integrated with existing security systems or otherwise used as standalone solutions. Live video can also be streamed to Security Monitoring Centres or mobile devices using 4G, 5G, wireless, SD-WAN or satellite connectivity.
WJ Sunstone’s Volt (previously ARC Gen) and Volt-P (previously known as Power Station) are solar and off-grid power solutions that can provide power for equipment such as surveillance and communications systems in locations that don’t have any access to mains electricity.
These solutions are designed to provide reliable power for off-grid applications including surveillance, telecommunications and Internet of Things equipment, helping to reduce the reliance on conventional diesel generation and its associated refuelling and maintenance requirements.
The company’s solutions are suitable for use across various applications including construction, infrastructure, the utilities, transport, industrial and other remote environments, providing an alternative to installing fixed surveillance infrastructure where a temporary or mobile solution is more appropriate.
WJ Sunstone also offers integration with third party sensors and security technologies, allowing systems to be configured around individual site requirements. The company’s platforms can incorporate technologies such as thermal imaging, smart analytics, motion detection and perimeter detection alongside surveillance.
Intelligent Transport Systems
Alongside the portfolio refresh, WJ Sunstone and WJ’s Intelligent Ttransport Systems (ITS) team have now been fully brought together under the WJ Sunstone banner. Continued success has also supported the opening of a new dedicated WJ Sunstone depot at Silverdale near Stoke, which plays host to the division’s dedicated Control Room.
Located five minutes from WJ’s Northern headquarters, it#s WJ Sunstone’s second dedicated depot, with its existing facility in Whitstable, and serves to free-up capacity at the neighbouring Stoke depot in order to support and underpin the wider growth of the business.
Tom Howarth, head of WJ Sunstone, told Security Matters: “We have a broad range of trusted and high-quality security technologies that solve very different challenges. We wanted to make it much simpler for customers to understand what each solution does, where it can be used and how the different technologies are able to work together.”
Howarth added: “Our solutions operate 24/7, 365 days per annum with no refills, no mains power and no compromise on security, giving security teams a reliable option for projects where traditional fixed infrastructure isn’t practical or not possible, whether that’s due to a lack of power, the temporary nature of the environment or sites where security requirements change.”
