ACCESS CONTROL solutions developer Paxton is teaming up with Skills for Security and Texecom to host a free webinar focused on Martyn’s Law. Aimed at security system installers, the webinar – running on 1 October from 10.30 am-11.45 am – will explore what the Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025 could mean for customers and how access control, intruder detection and lockdown systems can work together.
Martyn’s Law, of course, is designed to improve preparedness and protection against terrorist attacks at qualifying premises and events. The legislation received Royal Assent on 3 April last year.
The Act of Parliament harbours a minimum 24-month implementation period, with the legislation expected to come into force in the early part of 2027. Organisations within scope will need to assess venues under their control for terrorism risks and implement proportionate protective measures.
Dan Drayton, divisional director with responsibility for the EMEA sales region at Paxton, informed Security Matters: “We’re pleased to be working with Skills for Security and Texecom on this initiative. Bringing together expertise from across the industry will help security installers to understand how different technologies can work together and support their customers.”
Drayton added: “Martyn’s Law will bring forward new considerations for many organisations. We want to give security installers practical guidance that they can use when discussing security requirements and potential approaches with their customers.”
The webinar encompasses a one-hour presentation followed by a 15-minute Q&A with industry experts. The content will cover:
*what Martyn’s Law could mean for security customers
*the principles of lockdown systems and their role within access control
*how access control and intruder detection technologies can work together
*practical considerations when specifying lockdown systems
*how changing security requirements could create new opportunities for installers
