OPTEX brings new REDSCAN mini-Pro LiDAR sensor to market

OPTEX HAS announced the launch of its new REDSCAN mini-Pro sensor featuring an integrated infrared camera to provide “highly accurate and ultra-fast” short-range laser detection and visual verification in both indoor and outdoor high-security environments.

The latest addition to the award-winning REDSCAN LiDAR Series, the new REDSCAN mini-Pro analyses the size, location and distance of moving or loitering objects to accurately and precisely detect intruders to a range of 20 metres x 20 metres. Designed to work in both indoor and outdoor short-range applications, the sensors can be mounted horizontally to create invisible laser planes to protect roofs, skylights and ceilings or vertically to create virtual laser walls for safeguarding high-value assets, perimeter gates or façades.

Providing an extra layer of security intelligence, the REDSCAN mini-Pro features an integrated camera that allows verification of the cause of the alarm, while simultaneously recording and saving video footage and detailed logs for post-event analysis.

Thanks to its IR LED with adjustable light sensitivity, the sensor can provide 24/7 surveillance of premises in any lighting conditions. The detection quality is not affected by weather, temperature or light changes, which guarantees consistent and accurate performance in a multitude of high-security applications.

To be adaptable to the needs of every site, the REDSCAN mini-Pro features eight independent detection zones. Within each zone, the sensitivity, target size and output can be configured independently such that an individual zone’s risk and location settings may be optimised for maximum capture rates with minimum nuisance alarms.

Unsurpassed detection

Masaya Kida, managing director of OPTEX EMEA, believes that the new REDSCAN mini-Pro provides “unsurpassed detection” having been developed to meet the changing needs of customers.

“OPTEX was the first company to use laser technology for security, launching the first REDSCAN models in 2009,” explained Kida. “Today, REDSCAN sensors are successfully securing thousands of locations. We’ve been listening to feedback from our customers and used our expertise as leaders in the field to develop the REDSCAN mini–Pro Series to meet the need for greater flexibility and enhanced network security.”

Kida continued: “This is a small, yet highly adaptable sensor, which is suitable for use in a wide variety of scenarios. The REDSCAN mini-Pro delivers highly precise detection, with an intelligent dynamic event filtering function which helps security teams prioritise alerts and identify real threats, making it the ideal solution for protecting high-value assets and high-security sites.“

The sensors are also ONVIF Profile S compliant, allowing seamless integration into any security infrastructure.

The REDSCAN mini-Pro Series includes two models – the RLS-2020V featuring an integrated camera with built-in IR LED and the RLS-2020A, which comes without a camera for customers who only require collecting anonymised 2D data.

Both models are now available in the EMEA region.
