NINETEEN GROUP – the award-winning event organiser behind The Security Event, the International Security Expo, the International Cyber Expo and the National Cyber Security Show – has acquired the Security Awareness Special Interest Group (SASIG), the dedicated networking and thought leadership forum focused on the cyber security industry.
Across its two decades of subscription-free operation, SASIG has created a strong networking community for cyber security professionals. It supports the development of the industry through a series of physical events, webinars and skills festivals.
In essence, SASIG provides an environment wherein cyber security practitioners can gather, enabling candid discussions and knowledge exchange on critical cyber security issues.
Globally, SASIG’s 4,000-plus membership cohort encompasses organisations of all sizes and representation from all of the key elements in both the public and private sectors. These highly engaged members are drawn not only from the C-Suite (ie Chief Information Security Officers, Chief Technology Officers, Chief Information Officers, decision-makers and influencers), but also all levels of the cyber security profession, law enforcement, Government and academia.
Peter Jones, CEO of the Nineteen Group, enthused: “SASIG is an exciting addition to the Nineteen family. From the moment we met with Martin and his highly experienced team, we were immediately struck by the synergy that SASIG and our own International Cyber Expo would have if partnered together. SASIG’s range of year-round events aligned with unrivalled industry reach will help place the new offering at the forefront of the industry. We are delighted to welcome the SASIG team to the business.”
Rachael Shattock, Group event director at Nineteen, added: “SASIG holds a distinguished position among senior leaders within the cyber security industry. The forum’s events, including ‘Big SASIG’, will greatly complement our own cyber portfolio. We cannot wait to start integrating the two businesses.”
Martin Smith MBE, founder and chair of SASIG, responded: “For years now I have been searching for a suitable home for SASIG to ensure its longevity and increase its reach and influence. With Nineteen Group, I have at last found the perfect partner. The wait was worth it. Nineteen’s ethos, culture and portfolio are completely aligned with that of SASIG. Together, we really can be greater than the sum of our parts. This is an exciting new phase of SASIG’s evolution.”
‘Big SASIG’ is a uniquely formatted concept designed such that both sides of the cyber security community – users and vendors/suppliers – can meet as equals. Delegates engage directly with industry experts in pre-organised one-to-one meetings and workshops.
High-quality content for ‘Big SASIG’ is developed under the guidance and direction of the ‘Big SASIG’ Steering Committee comprised of leading CISOs and industry experts.
The fourth edition of ‘Big SASIG’ runs on 23 April in central London.
