THE WORSHIPFUL Company of Security Professionals has announced a continuation of the existing agreement already in place that means The Security Institute will manage the administration of the Register of Chartered Security Professionals across the next five-year period.
Susan Jones, the current Master of The Worshipful Company of Security Professionals, announced the continuation of the administration agreement on behalf of the Chartered Security Professionals Registration Authority at the official signing ceremony held on 17 July.
In attendance were Sarah Austerberry MLitt CSyP FSyI, interim CEO of The Security Institute, Julie Nel MA CSyP FSyI (chair of The Security Institute), Mike Bluestone MA CSyP FSyI (registrar of the Register of Chartered Security Professionals) and, as stated, Susan Jones.
The partnership between the two organisations was established in May 2011. In the time since, the Register of Chartered Security Professionals has gone from strength to strength, with over 310 security professionals gaining Chartered Security Professional (CSyP) status. CSyPs have been instrumental in the raising of standards across the industry, influencing positive change and fashioning a safer and more secure society in the UK and beyond.
Enhanced collaboration
Julie Nel commented: “I’m extremely pleased to further enhance our collaboration with the Register and The Worshipful Company. With the exception of our General Counsel, Chartered Security Professional status is held by members of The Security Institute’s Board of Directors, duly reflecting our continued dedication to raising standards across the security profession. Advancing Chartership through this partnership with The Worshipful Company represents an important milestone in relation to our strategic goal of professionalising the security sector.”
Sarah Austerberry noted: “As both a Chartered Security Professional and Fellow of The Security Institute, I’m delighted to continue our fruitful partnership with the Register and The Worshipful Company. At The Security Institute, we are committed to supporting the development of our membership. Attaining Chartered Security Professional status remains an aspirational goal for so many current and future security professionals. We’re very proud to be at the forefront of supporting all security professionals at every stage of their careers.”
Mike Bluestone commented: “Like Sarah, I’m a long-standing member of the Institute as well as being one of the first cohort of Chartered Security Professionals. For me, this partnership has been more than just a working relationship. It’s a passion project that speaks to our shared goals as organisations. As such, I’m particularly pleased that we’re set to continue working together for another five years. There is still so much that we can achieve and much work to be done.”
Extending knowledge
Susan Jones explained: “As Master of The Worshipful Company of Security Professionals, I’m both honoured and delighted to sign the contract. I thank and commend all those involved in writing the document.”
Jones continued: “As I mentioned in June, throughout my year as Master I would like to extend knowledge of the Chartered Security Professional designation within the security sector, notably so among practitioners in the civil service and the military. Achieving this qualification demonstrates a high level of competence and is a verification of skills. It also shows a commitment to uphold the highest standards in security.”
In conclusion, Jones affirmed: “I wish all those who are on, or otherwise about to start their Chartered Security Professional journey the very best of luck and congratulate those who’ve already achieved this prestigious accolade.”
