BUILDING ON its popular series of integrated high-security solutions events, the CNI Security Group has announced ‘Protecting CNI Scotland: the Importance of Cyber-Secure Solutions in Critical National Infrastructure’.
Put together for the benefit of all end users, consultants and system designers in the Critical National Infrastructure (CNI) sector, the free-to-attend event will be held at Dakota Eurocentral in Motherwell on 19 November from 9.30 am-4.00 pm.
The format of the day will include presentations and panel discussions from specialists in cyber security and end users in the CNI space, all of them looking to share their own ‘real world’ experiences.
In addition, leading security industry manufacturers barox Kommunikation, Hirsch UK, Nedap Security, ISM Ltd, Commend, Overview and Lochrin Bain will be showcasing the very latest in cutting-edge CNI/National Protective Security Authority security technologies suitable for deployment across high-security sites including those focused on the utilities, prisons, the nuclear sector and airports.
Keynote presentation
The highlight of the morning programme will be a keynote presentation from the award-winning Mike Gillespie FCIIS MSyl CIRM of Advent IM. A specialist in cyber security and governance, Gillespie is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Information Security and senior vice-president for Europe at CSCIS.
A former director of The Security Institute, Gillespie advises globally and contributes to major media. He’ll be speaking about cyber and physical security and promoting awareness of organisational threats.
In the afternoon, a panel discussion session entitled ‘What lessons have we learned from experience? What does the future hold? How can we be more CNI resilient?’ involves senior leaders in the CNI space and will be led by Malcolm Warr OBE, chair of CNI Scotland. Warr boasts over 20 years’ experience in the domain of national security policy and implementation and has chaired defence, cyber and physical security conferences on the international stage.
Details of additional speakers and panellists will be released in the coming weeks.
Inaugural Scotland event
Sara Fisher, chair of the CNI Security Group, commented: “We are so excited about our first event in Scotland, particularly so as it’s building up to be the best one so far. Once again, we have a fantastic line-up of presenters and panellists, from specialists in cyber security on a global scale through to end users in the CNI space. More than that, though, and on a personal note, I feel extremely privileged to be working with such an amazing team of people, from fellow CNI Security Group members and partners to those experts who are giving up their time to share their knowledge and experience with our audience. Our delegates are in for a really special day.”
Lunch will be provided for all attendees and the day will finish with post-event drinks and networking.
